ne one ever had their catalytic converter go out on them?

Just wanna see if anyone could describe the characteristics of what their car does when the catalytic converter goes out.....

When I got my exhaust done recently, I had the cats removed and I found out that one of them had the substraight material completely gone and the other was starting to disinagrate. It didn't cause any problems as the one cat was completely empty.

I guess it could cause a problem if some of the pieces broke off and blocked the exhaust flow.
