Since I just purchased my Q this month I have limited experience with this car but I would have to say:-Ride comfort-Power (my last car was an 04 Maxima, not shabby but not a Q)-Luxury options (reclining rear seats!!)-The V8, even with high gas pricesThe pearl white looks good!!!!!!!

Welcome to NICO, Mike!

You'll find most of the discussion here relates to older Q45s (more problems over the years - more data) but we're seeing more and more of yours. The chassis designation for your model is F50. I recommend you search for that term in Recent Posts, Post Bodies. You'll find everything we've discussed about it over the past few years.

Your not going to see too many of them on the road, but very much an under-rated car.

So give us more data, how many miles on it, the history of the car that youi know and some of the more recent F50 guys can chime in. I have seen a number of posts with the F50 burning oil, probably something you should watch over the course of your next oil changes.

Well it is a 2005 with 17K miles on it. It has every option that came with the car that year, Navi, backup camera, Sat radio, heated/cooled front seats, heated and reclining rear seats, 18" chrome rims, Pearl white exterior. I will monitor my oil level since you siad there could be a problem.

Interesting. I thought I had the only Pearl White '05 Q around. Bought mine used in Jan '07 withy 24k miles on it. I love it except for the excessive understeer on high-speed curves and the vague steering. I still can't believe Infiniti failed to provide illumination for the steering wheel controls or auto door locks, which even my wife's Honda Civic coupe has.

You will come to appreciate and love the rain sensing wipers and auto headlights, as well as the Nav system's ability to guide you to any address you need to find.

Oil consumption:Mine only used about 1/3 quart in 2,000 miles at first, but on my 7345 miles road trip, ate over 3 quarts in the first 4500 miles. I attribute that to extreme headwinds, as the fuel mileage on most of the trip was atrocious due to those winds. Once I lost the headwinds, fuel mileage increased and oil consumption stopped. I'm suspecting that loading the engine so hard for so many miles fighting those headwinds seated the rings, and fuel mileage will increase and oil consumption will drop. I intend to monitor both and will report in a separate thread.

You'll also love the new for '05 seats. My '94 "t" model had pretty good ones, but on a previous 7200 mile trip with it, after 400 miles, I needed pillows to sit on, but then, I have no *** at all. Nevertheless, my recent 7345 miles trip in the '05 surprised me. I made the whole trip with no discomfort at all, no matter how many miles I put on in one day.

Finally, the low beams will make you smile, but the high beams will have you wondering if they even came on fully. Little to be done for that, as it's the fault of the relfectors creating too much beam dispersion, and even brighter bulbs won't increase range, although they will increase brightness within the range they do have.

Note also the flat cornering and extremely tight turning circle, which will please you a lot.

With the exception of the steering and understeer flaws, I find the '05 F50 to be an excellent road car. I expcect you'll enjoy yours too.

After you've had a chance to monitor fuel mileaqe and oil consumption over a given time period, let us know what your results for them are. And don't forget to flush all fluids ASAP; transmission, cooling system, brake system, and steering system. That means a power flush of them, not just a fluid change. Change motor oil to a premium synthetic and also change the diff lube to a good premium synthetic too. Doing these things, and repeating them regularly will increase your driving pleasure and provide many miles and years of expense-free motoring.

Don't forget to read completely the Owner's Manual and download the FSM from the Internet for future reference.

Congrats on your purchase, and good luck.

Thanks George,

I plan to have all the fluids flushed and changed as suggested. I will also let you know about oil consumption once I get some miles on her. I plan on taking a trip next month, about 1500 miles round trip, I want to see how she handles the road trips.
