Damn that sucks. Sorry to hear about the head gasket. seems like no one is having any luck with keeping their 240 on the road right now.

speakin of, I made a sort of last second decision to enroll in a few nissan auto tech and motorsports classes at Greenville Tech this afternoon. After the whole shop experience I had I figured it would be nice to know how to do a lot of the motor work my self.

So to make a long story short, looks like Greenville will be my new home starting the begining of next month.l it would be cool if I could meet up with some of you Greenville folks...err.. thats if anyones car is back up when I move up there (Move in date is set at Jan. 4)

P.S. I spotted a red 240sx fastback while I was in town. It was turing through an intersection on plesentville Rd. Had sleepy eyes, silver wheels, looked lowered, had exhaust, and some euro clear tail lights...don't know if any of you knew who that was or if the owner posted

I almost never see anyone driving 240s around here. Hell, mine only comes out of the garage about once a week these days. Lots of honda punks around here though.

guys don't give up on your 240s! They may be getting old, but just remember, once you've replaced something, thats one less thing you have to replace and your car is that much more trouble free. There are only so many things that can break.

Mine runs just fine. (knock on wood). They are older cars. So are MR2's. I don't care who makes it they are gonna have gremlins. Besides, where I come from 240s are different and rare.

You guys with 240s that don't run... how much you want for them?

yeah.. your right, MR2's are older but MOST of the people that own them are pretty meticulous and love their MR2's so they keep them up, might be why their resale value is higher than 240s.. damnit :-p could be a positive thing though.

From what I read in the road and track "used car classic" article they did, there were only 20,000 MR2's made for the US from 91-95. Turbos and non-turbo, with 95s being the most rare. That my friend would be the reason for their resale value being so good. Not to mention they are great sports cars. 240sx's only recently became popular so a lot of them have already been run into the ground and a lot of owners still don't know what they have. Plus, people drift them into walls every day. Somebody said once that there were only 8000 made for the us between 97 and 98. The other years seem to be more common, and hatchback S13s seem to be the most common. I don't think they have reached the height of their resale value. The only problem is that their full potential takes work to be brought out (engine swaps, turbos). It's not like getting a Mustang GT and just doing donuts. But the good thing is that as the resale value goes up so will the quality of people who can afford them, so more will be preserved.

I don't know if anybody cares

btw- My dad is one of the meticulous ones you speak of. I think it would break his heart if something happened to it after he sold it.

yeah your right about the 95's being the rarest and not to mention the heaviest( turbo model) but.. i think the amount of total mr2's made was more than 20k. i think it was like 50k but i could be wrong. if they only made 20k they would be expensive to buy.. the 3S motor was manufactured by Yamaha but of course Toyota took the credit for it.. major props for Yamaha building one of the world's most powerful 4 cyls.

all I know is what that article said. I made sure I was right about that part cause I didn't believe it. Of course you know you can go to 3 different sources and get 3 different results. I never heard that about the motor, I do know that the motor in the non-turbos is essentially a camry motor, and that you can put a v6 back there me and my dad have always talked about doing that to his.

lol yeah.. i was contemplating that.. ill just leave a 2nd gen 3S in there though.. boost that and see what ill get out of it. i used to know more than what i do now about the MR2 and the 3SGTE but.. i forgot it because Nissan and NICO brainwashed me with all their Nissan/Datsun/Infiniti stuff.. oh well, i have plenty of time to learn.

also, there were some major changes in the 93 model.. most were changed to the suspension, they had alot of problems with the rear suspension in the 91 and 92 models so.. in the 93-95 models the rear suspension went under a makeover and included LSD trannies with some turbo models. id also love to have a hardtop model..mmm

yeah, id rather buy a decent shell and put a motor in it myself for cheap than have a perfect one. if i got an 86 it would be a pure drift car so theres no point in buying a perfect one.
