How easy would it be to swap that one in. Is it just as easy as the S13 from the 91 to 94 I know they use the same harness pretty much and you just have to change the tack. Is it 5 speed or auto

So whats wrong with the engine and stuff that he would just get rid of for 500. I just finally got my cooling problem under control and really dont need any more problems

Tamos KA's sell for really cheap, you can get just the motor for around $300 all day everyday. Most people get rid of the KA because they do a motor swap. So its not hard to find a good running KA for dirt cheap. now if you go to a run of the mill average shop looking to get a motor then expect to pay at least 700 for one and it will be just the bare bones motor in most cases. $500 for a running KA with the 5 speed transmission is a good deal and if you dont jump on it im sure it will sell in no time. also if your going to swap to a 5 speed be ready to shell out at least another $300 for the rest of the stuff you need like the 5 speed driveshaft, transmission crossmember, master cyclinder, slave cyclinder, clutch pedal, and clutch lines. i might have forgot a part or two but thats basicly all you need to go manual. check the 240sx tech pages on here because they have a write up on converting an auto to manual.

like Gregg said good KA's go from 100-700 the one i previously wanted was gonna cost me 600 for motor +Trans

my friend( mike) swapped an SR in and has 2 KAs he does not need.(one from his old car)

ive been itching to buy this motor but i have nothing to put it in.. as swapping the motor i currently have would create downtime i do not have.. not to mention i have a good bit of money tied up into my sr..

but he came to me to price the motor and i told him 500.. if you cant wire it yourself. theirs a local shop in spartanburg that can wire it for you

btw gregg you get that motor yet?

Just to give you an example.. I GAVE my KA away a few years ago when I went SR. Nobody wanted them then and I needed the room in my garage. So I gave it to a local tuner shop to use. That motor only had 110K on it and ran fine. The only reason I pulled it was A) I had an SR and 5 Speed ready to go in. B) the water pump crapped out and sounded nasty (but really wasn't) and I was able to convince the wife that the motor was dead (shhh). So the KA went away, kinda wish I had kept it just to mess with. But life goes on.

If you go onto http://car-part.com/

you can search the US for them as well. Gives you a better idea of what they go for.Good luck

Thanks for all the info!!! I was wanting to swap in the DE cause I was having so much trouble with the E trying to over heat and I changed everything the head gasket the fan clutch, water pump, thermostat, sensors you name it I did it and finally I got the money to get a radiator and guess what it fixed my problem pissed me off that I spent almost a G to fix a cooling problem and it just turned out to be a 150$ Radiator. I could have used that G to get a 5 lug conversion and some rims and $h!T. So I am good for now I am just going to be saving up for my SR like planed. I am just having problems with it spuddering or hesitating and it only happens when it warms up and if I am just easing on the gas some times when WOT. I made a Thread if you interested in helping its titled Car trouble could use some help!!! It has everthing I have done listed in there to try to fix the problem.

I posted some ideas in your post, but the Catalytic could be the culprit. If you need one and are down this way (Charleston) let me know. I have a complete OE exhaust just sitting here. The SR and I don't like Cats so much..lol. Let me know.

I already bought a brand new cat and even used the test pipe and it has that hesitation.

Just got a quick question. What do you guys do about your faded out wiper switch? Get a factory replacement, or will a newer switch work off a S14? None of the autoparts stores carry one but they do carry one for a maxima and it looks the same. Are they?

Its the one on the steering colum that I am talking about. I don't need to replace it right now I was just trying to get a little 411 since the Search isn't turning up anything. The one I really need to replace is the switch for the hatch.
