The KA-t was started up today. I wasn't there but I heard it was very exciting, complete with turbo noises and everything. Just waiting on injectors mostly. So Jordan and I polished my rims the other day and I took a few pictures I thought I would share.

And here is my girlfriend's duck. Her name is Alice Catherine Norton.

She's a pretty cool duck.

BALLIN!

yeah, we started it up last night. it was pretty exciting. just waiting on a few minor things to get it on the road. need to get a belt for the water pump for the power steering delete, clean up the engine bay a little, get an n62 maf and 550cc injectors, and some other little stuff and it will be good to go. also have to finish all the body work and get it ready for paint which will be a bit later.

Well if life couldnt be any harder. im stuck with a MAJOR decision. Everyone here knows about me going to Switzerland to play hockey and what not..wellll....Today we had out High School Hockey Championship game which we havent won in a long time and we did. The manager that i've known for the past 3 years and has helped me pay for all my hockey seasons (over $20,000 worth) is going to Colorado this week to speak with the Junior B league and see if he can get me sponsored to play for free with his team. And just to give you a ballpark, thats $6,000 worth of sponsorship.

I'm sure you'll make the right decision man. Wish I knew what to tell you.

In other news, the parts car I picked up from dalzell has an lsd!! woohoo. I'm going to post pics soon of S14 project #2 tommorrow.

Duke I love your car. Just needs a lip and to be lowered and it's done!

Thanks. It is lowered. I'm sure it could go lower but it's a huge improvement from what it was. My tires are making it look a little higher. They're gigantic. 60's. I really need to get some good tires. I was thinking about a lip. I'm just not sure. If I had extra money i would get one. Right now i just want to spend money on performance stuff. That's good news about the lsd. Surprises like that are always pleasant.

I'll probably stay here, work full time, work as hard as i can at hockey, and spend all my money on the 240.

Was thinking of building up a KA

that camaro is badass! When I get a chance, I'm going to post some pics of what I've been doing lately.

Pat, glad to hear you're staying, I really wanted to see you build up that Hatch. I think you should go SR.

You think so? I was thinking KA-T. I might just go SR for the fact that its a simple swap.

The Con about KA-T is i have nowhere to rebuild a KA so it would be alot easier if i could just buy something ready to run and put it in. I'll really have to think about it.

Go KA-t and have Jordan do it. You could be making over 300 hp for less than money than an sr swap.

I just have never heard of a KA-T that didn't blow up eventually, even if it is professionally done. I'm just skeptical of the durability. Hard to beat an SR for reliabilty over anything, including RB's from what I hear.

That's probably true. But the good thing about the KA-T is you can get a new one for a few hundred bucks if you blow yours. Idk why i'm defending KA-T though... I have an sr. And i like it. I guess KA-T just seems really good if you don't have a lot of money to spend.

i like sr's alright, im just not a fan of the popularity. i kinda think its silly to spend 3k plus for 50 whp. i wouldnt say that ka's are that much less reliable than sr's either. its all about how you take care of your motor or how the person before you took care of it. i see a ka as pretty damn reliable esp if youre running a setup similar to a stock sr - t25, smic, 370s etc.. and i honestly dont understand people swapping out perfectly good ka's for an sr thats not that much of an improvement. something like the setup i just said could cost about 700 dollars more or less and its gonna make plenty more power than a stock sr. i mean for what we spent on this setup, which is like 1600 dollars or so, we are gonna make twice the power of an sr for less than half the money - if you swap it yourself of course. and dont think im bashing sr's either, they are beautiful motors. but there are also ka-t's running around like the guy running 34lbs making 560+ whp on STOCK internals. and if im not mistaken the fastest 240 in the US is powered by a ka-t

approx. 90-100k miles, which is pretty decent imo. but like luke said, if a ka blows up its 2-300 dollars for a new one and about 2 hours work of work to throw a new one in. as long as you take care of it, change the oil when your supposed to and dont beat on it nonstop it should be alright. i have beat the absolute **** out of my motor and it takes it like a champ. i take it to the mountains about once a week or more, get my exh manifold and all four brake rotors glowing and she runs like a top. i love it. im really ready to beat on some sr's with this ka-t because most of them have no respect for it im really ready to get my car tuned so that i can keep up with stock sr's with my n/a ka

What I said earlier was the reason why I went with an SR, not the popularity. I dont care about that, I just want a fun turbocharged car that's not going to grenade. KA's have gotten more expensive lately(like $3-600), while SR's have dropped to below $2000 for a redtop. I'm not overly impressed with the power of my stock SR, but I know I can do a few things when I get money that will make it worthwhile. I respect just about any engine setup, but for those with limited funds, I see no problem with an SR once you get past the initial cost. Then you have more potential for later when you get some more funds. Just seems better in the longrun to me.
