next even that I know about is July 15th. So now you're fixing up the black one? I thought the red one was the better one? Anyway I may be interested in whichever one you are throwing aside, I really want to go drifting! So let me know what you want for it.

Haha. I wouldnt mind learning to drift either. I wouldnt know how you would get it down there. Tires are flat and etc. Remember its AUTO too. But besides the Auto transmission and the broken quarter it would be a nice little drift machine. I have no idea what to get rid of it for.

Yea im keeping the black one as a DD for now and was going to make the red as a drift or straight clean ride. Not sure though. If you dont have the pics or havent seen them of the red one then i could show you them. Then YOU can decide.

I'm going to try to get down there myself pending that I don't have to work.It sounds like it would be exciting to attend and hopefully I'll be able to take some pics. James, was it like D1 or more local drifters?

Where is tail of the dragon located? I know that I won't be able to make it this time around since I still have to take care of the stuff with the DMV side of the car (tags, registration, etc.) The head honchos at my job eliminated overtime so I'm definitely gonna have to get a 2nd job on the weekends or something like that.

I don't care that it's an auto, changing to manual is a simple operation and I already have the transmission, I'd just put the whole engine and transmission from my S14 directly in there and then slowly get the other things it needs, and eventually I'd have a drift car. I'll buy nice stuff for my s14 and the leftovers will just trickle down to the drift car. I'd find a way to tow it down here one way or another. You'll have to decide the price because I will lowball the hell out of it if I make an offer since my wife is probably going to kill me anyway. That's why I told you to take all the good stuff off and just leave the body, wheels/tires, dash, steering wheel and your worst seat and of course the basics like headlights and tail lights and stuff. And if there's a body part that is better than the one you are keeping, trade it out. I'm probably going to spray paint it flat black and beat the hell out of it anyway.

gr8bryt- it was pretty much an ameteur event, everything from a guy in a sil-80 who turned 16 and got his license 3 days ago to a rich guy in a Porsche 911 GT2. A grass-roots S13 clunker would fit right in with the rest of them. The tail of the dragon is located in western north carolina and you can look it up on the internet really easily because it is quite famous.

scs13- I'll probably be there on the 15th, especially if any of you guys decide to go. You better fine tune your car before you do any spirited driving far from home. I had a few issues with mine the first few weeks I had it running.

I looked it up on the web and it looks like it would be interesting, yet dangerous at the same time. I suppose as long as you heed the warnings, your chances of wrecking or something would be reduced. It does bug me a bit knowing that you could find yourself in a blind corner with another car plowing toward you. I don't even think they should allow large trucks to use that route based on all the problems. It would probably be more fun if you didn't have to worry about an 18 wheeler blocking up the road! That is a LONG drive from Columbia, I would have to spend the weekend up there if I went. Furthermore, I won't be able to do a lot of crazy stuff cause I would still have to drive back. It might be wise to take an extra tire or two especially if you don't have a lot of tire left as is.It also appears that you'll want to warm your tires and get some of the fade out of the brakes before taking on this course.

I suck at pricing too haha. I havnet done much lately with the car. All i've been doing is going to the YMCA here to work out and working. Still saving the money. If im going to keep the red one then im going to spend the money on that. Probably suspension and wheels first and then engine so its on the road too. If not then i'll be just keep saving. How's everyone else's car coming along? What happened to all the other memebers we had in here?

It sounds like you have a good plan of action for your project. Things are coming along slowly for my car especially since its not road legal just yet. I have a limited amount of free time to mess with it right now, albeit I did change out the passenger side mirror over the weekend. I've been considering doing a sleepy eye set-up on it, I was searching through old threads to see how involved it was. Not too bad at all; especially since there was a video for how-to.

I dunno what happened to everyone, there have only been a few peeps on lately. I guess everyone is just doing their thing handling business. Life definitely has ways to bog you down at times.

I wish that I could say that I would be done in a year, its looking more like 5 for me unless I win the lottery or something. BTW, you all are free to donate as much to my project as you would like..lol

The best thing I can tell you is to get it while the gettin' is good. Once you have to start really paying bills, everything goes on the back burner when $$ is concerned. I figured that if I can save an extra $250/month then I could have it all done within 5 yrs.

Glad you planned it out financially like that. Thats a good start. The only time i use any of the money is when im needing it for food or when i need something other then that. But besides that i have so many $1's in my drawer i look like i robbed a gang of strippers

I had to come up with some kind of dollar figure to start with. I can always adjust my savings according to my budget. I feel ya about dipping into the cookie jar. It took every bit of self-control for me not to dabble into the $$ I had saved to buy my car. Money burns holes in my pockets and it's always hard for me to save even when I know that I need the money for something (other than rent lol)

It's cool about the $1's cause sooner or later you'll be able to exchange them for $100's

What kinda deal are you getting on kouki tail lights? I wanna do a rear conversion to s14 lights and I really want kouki's but they're so damn expensive and quite rare in the NICO classifieds. Let me ask you guys of your opinion. Do y'all think zenki lights would look as cool as the kouki lights in the rear?

Is the insurance that cheap here in North carolina?! I just got a renewal for the s2000 and It is only $79.00 amonth!! Of course that is for basic coverage, but it dropped from being $144.00 amonth...How is this possible? I am 19 with a sports car! I know they wanted to charge me something crazy like $600.00 a month back in florida per month for full coverage... Well I am loving it and just wanted to share lol!!

That sounds like a pretty big project molding those lights in like that. I don't know that I would take that on myself. I like the newer 180sx taillights a lot. I'm also really lovin the sil-80 look, I think that looks sexy, if I do a drift car and if I ever end up doin stuff to the body I'll consider that.

I would have the lights molded professionally of course. I'm also going with an s15 front w/ C-West N1 bumper and a wide body stance. I have it all drawn out on paper of how I want it to look, but I guess I'll just have to do it to see how it turns out. James are you talking about these lights? If so, I'll say that I considered those for a long time up until I saw an Options video that had an s13 hatch w/ s14 kouki tails. From then on I was hooked , albeit if the conversion turns out to be more of a headache than its worth I will probably just go with these. I'm keeping my options open still though. I know it sounds crazy, but I just don't want my Silvia to look like just another modded 240. When I roll through, I want people to say "Wow, what was that?"(in a good way). Don't get it twisted and think that I'm a crowd pleaser, I just want as much show as I plan to have for GO.

Eddie you should get a quote for full coverage so that you can make an equal comparison between the states. I'm pretty sure it will still be less than FL just based on the different tax rates and all that. Congrats though on getting a good deal on your insurance, that leaves xtra cash to put into the kouki.

just a heads up, if you guys buy parts on NICO, I'm not going to name names yet, but read up on the people you are buying from, if you see negative posts in their threads, look elsewhere. That's from personal experience of course, I just wanted to warn you guys. I sent off $75 through paypal over a week ago and have not heard a word, and I'm not the only one unhappy with this guy. Like I said I won't name names yet, but when I get tired of it, I am going to light this guy up like the 4th of july, with the nico moderators and with paypal. Then for good measure I might send someone to break his knees. j/k

I think one of the things that has me head over heals for the s14 is the back end, including the tail lights. Add a hatchback body in that and it might look pretty cool. The S15 front end turns me off because it is so expensive, but at the same time I love it on the S13 hatch. Not into it on the S14, it doesn't seem to be much of an improvement. Personally I think the styling of the S15 is closer to the S13 hatch than the s14, so maybe that is why it compliments a hatch so much better.

I want my car to be more of a subtle yet equally shocking car kind of like what Chip Foose builds. What color are you going to paint yours?

I agree with you about the looks, that's why I'm going the route that I am. I plan to have a base coat of Interlagos Fire like on the "Z" and some vinyl covering. This will give you an idea, bear with me cause I got these pics of the television so they're not great quality.

Heres another view; I know you guys might think its ricey but I'm digging the purple. It is different and it photos well too. I'm going to have bronze Nismo LM GT4's so the that bronze strip @ the bottom will bisect the wheel close to the center line. I went through a lot of different color combos and such and I liked this one most....to each their own right?
