wish i just had a car right now. Im thinking of doing a VG30 swap like Wes wanted to do with his. Im thinking of buying the car, taking out the motor, painting it, buying the rest of z32 engine bay, aftermarket cams, pistons, and some more to really make this NA competative, then im going to put it in the car, buy the 7spoke s13 rims and s-techs on, not sure what else.

i still dont understand the whole vg swap idea. it just ruins the purpose of a 240. being a relatively lightweigh handling machine.

different is not always better. I think you'd be better off just buying a Z32.

I've been going back and forth between KA-T and RB for a long time. I still don't know what I'll end up with.

if you have the money at a lump then i would just go for a RB but if you'd like to get piece by piece then the Turbo would be the way to go.

I want to use my car to go up into the mountains and hang some curves. I may keep back some of the money when I sell the Maxima to dump into the 240 and pay bills with the rest so I was thinking about getting an RB20 motorset, just wondering if it will get me significant power gains in stock form or if I will have to do stuff to it, in that case I may do a turbo kit on the KA. It's just that turboing a KA seems to be as expensive as an engine swap if done right. I don't know what to do.

How many miles are on your 240 anyways? If its not a whole lot then your safe with a turbo. No you'll actually save about $700-800 because you'll still have to pay for labor and not mention about 2200 for the engine.

my motor has about 120,000 miles on it. The car has 105,000. It seems to run strong, It may burn oil but I have yet to determine that, since I haven't driven it enough. I just have a lot of research to do before I put together a turbo. redemption1978 seems to think that I can do one for under a grand, if so, I'm definitely doing that when the max sells.

you probobly could do it for under a grand. you should see who has done it like that and see what kind of gains they are getting.

I think you can do one for under a grand not much under but if you want to get a little crazy such as accidentally turn up the boost to 18psi that wouldn't work for very long I don't think.

yeah, definetly not. but for a modest setup for a decent amount of power it would work. do you think you would just keep it like that or in the future try and get a better setup or what?

I think relatively modest amounts of power would be enough for curve driving, maybe some time in the future I'd go bigger, but for now less than 10 psi of boost would be fine.

I don't know what the stock block is capable of but I think after 11psi your rods start to become the weakpoint. I'd have to look into that but 10 psi should be safe assuming you run premium gas and good fuel management. I love 93 octane.

you could get an s14 for way cheaper than that i am sure. im wondering why he is saying it is perfect for a swap, guessing the motor isnt great? boo its an auto too.

looks like it sold for $5000. That seems like a lot. Especially for an automatic.

The only thing with boosting is I just don't want to blow my motor up, cause that would suck. Maybe I'll stick around 8psi of boost.
