I'm kind of newbie so I beg your pardon if this seems to be a dumb question; however I'm very interested in the '09 Murano and am considering buying one this summer. I've read about the live traffic updates for the navigation system and think that info could be useful since I drive a lot for work. But does the navigation system display any type of weather information? Does any navigation system give weather info? I'm thinking along the lines of live radar so you can see where you are in relation to storms in the area.

We had the traffic info during our three month trial. There is no weather information provided as part of the traffic info. It only provides traffic slowdowns and stoppages for any reason. Although some of that might be caused by weather, it does not usually display the reason traffic is slow/stopped.

XM Radio channel 247, which you still get even if you do not subscribe to XM Radio services, does provide national emergency weather information. Why, just today I heard that Denver had high winds! Didn't help much here in northern California...

I've had a Garmin Nuvi for several years with traffic subscription features. I dont know about the XM traffic feature (the other reply to your post is correct I beleive, I dont think XM weather is available on the system that comes with the Murano Nav system), but I've found the traffic updates on my Garmin almost useless. Many times traffic jams have not yet been reported to the system, or, if you beleive there is a delay, it turns out the delay shown on the screen had cleared an hour ago, and you took a long detour for nothing. I do have XM radio and will tune to the local traffic channel here in Orlando. Its pretty much the same deal as I described above. Rarely accurate and often outdated information. If there is an additional subscription fee to enable XM traffic to the nav system (not just being able to hear your local traffic and weather on the appropriate xm channel), I cant imagine it would be worth paying. I got some sort of "lifetime subscription" for the Garmin Clearchannel system for like $50. I'd hate to think of paying $3 or $4 per month extra for this info.

The other posts are correct on the topic, no weather information provided by XM NavTraffic. It's best to consult with others in the area that have the service to determine how useful it is. XM doesn't provide this information themselves, they source it from others, usually the local government services that provide that traffic information so it is as useful and up-to-date as the information that they provide. If they are behind an hour then XM NavTraffic will be behind an hour as well.
