I would like to consider changing out my Nav. system ( '06 M35X) for a system with live traffic and other bells and whistles.
Is there a replacement system out there or an upgrade kit that improves the present system without interfering with, backup camera, maintenance screen, fuel use etc ?
Thanks

I've wondered about this also, but never really took the time to research this.
I imagine it being pretty involved if you include converting to touch screen.

Let's hope some other members have changed theirs. I cannot find it again but I did see something that converts the present Nav system into a touch screen that can be switched on and off but I cannot find it again...Anyone out there? Thanks

You would need to fabricate a lot, etc.

I believe I saw the thread you were talking about. Someone put the stock screen where the cup holders are and then put the other screen (with a carputer) in place of the stock screen.

That is a lot of work and outside the ability of 95% of people.

Put in a carputer or use your phone. I put one in my cup holder.

I looked arround about a year ago and the guys at a reputable stereo shop told me to forget it because the Nav/AV system that our cars have incorporates too many things from the car(tire info, maintenance schedule, car settings and others), so yeah, use your phone with google:)

Not to mention I believe it controls ALL of our voice activated stuff. So, if you ditch the system and replace it, you lose pretty much every 'toy' this car game with other than the transmission, engine, and power seats lol.

Thanks for your replies. I guess it's a dead end. I do have the cell phone NAV for traffic anyway.
