Is it better to run the navigation system all the time or only when I need it? I guess I am worried that it could burn out like an old cd player that can not read the disk. On the other hand some things work better when run.

The Nav system is technically always "on," whether you are seeing it or not - the system is always tracking where you are, so in the event you turn it on, it will know where you are.

Most LCD screens are rated for at least 50,000 hours.

So, if you average 25mph over the life of your car thats 1,250,000 miles.

I don't think I'd worry too much about the screen......
