Since the Rogue doesnt come with a navigation option, does anyone know if we will be able to install a off the market flush navigation system?

I know I can always buy the portable ones and attach it to the dash, but the flushed in ones always look better.

Does that mean its NOT possible to get a flush nav system/radio thats bose also and will work well with the bose installed speakers?

Thats the only shortcoming of the Rogue, I wish it had a nav option. I bet the 2009's are going to have it..when I am driving around in my 08

I don't know about that. I have a Garmin Nuvi 360 with bluetooth. You should be able to EASILY sync it up via the Rogue's built in Bluetooth. If you get a navigation unit without Bluetooth, but with a headphone out jack, you should be able to run that directly into the radio via the Line in jack on the front of the radio. You have plenty of options.

Personally I like not being locked into paying for a built in GPS that is a factory add on of like $1500.00 or more. I like being able to buy my own with exactly the features I want, such as MP3 playback, Audio Book Player, Digital Photo viewer, and so forth. Plus I can take my GPS out and use it in a differant car or take it with me when I fly to a far off city and such. Just my 2 cents - my Garmin can do way more than a factory system for less than $500 bucks.

True, better get a portable one than try to mess with the radio.

I see Navigon advertising a very nice gps system. I dont have one but it seems to have alot of features including free lifetime traffic report and 3D reality view

That is a sweet unit, I had not seen it till you posted it. Great reviews too. If I was not such an audio book freak, I would get this as my next unit. Very nice!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you get the right interface, it will use the Bose amp.

People talk about the need for a navigation system on a vehicle and would not purchase a model without one, but are they just as good as the aftermarket ones? Just wondering.

Depends on what you mean by better.

The only "Better" I see for the built in Nav systems are

1. Larger display2. Possible integration with backup camera3. Less Clutter

The not so Better "can" be (not all built ins are equal) is the updating of Map information. It can be as simple as a CD/DVD but not always.

I have not fully explored this, but it looks like it should be able to modify the sunglass holder on the roof center console so you could mount and power one of the portable GPS systems. I for one can live without the sunglasses and how often do you really need GPS?

It will need some disassembly of the roof console and perhaps a new holder from Nissan for when you trade/sell the car.

Since I don't have a Premium Package on my Rogue so I ordered Pioneer AVIC N4 DVD Receiver Navigation System from Crutchfield.com and just received it. I'm planning to install it this weekend. So happy about this set. I ordered with bluetooth adapter and will buy rear camera later on. If you guys want to see it I will post pictures after installation.

Well....by the time I got to the shop they told that they don't know where the speed sensor is located and they will not be able to install it (wasting of time). I decided to call dealer on monday and find out where the speed sensor is then I will install by myself. Also I found out from Crutchfield that metra is making a dash kit for single din on rogues. Will call metra tomorrow.

I moved my 3 year old Garmin C330 from my previous CRV to the Rogue. I mounted it in the center of the dash between and riding on the dash vents. It looks OK and is easy to cover up when the car is parked. The new C330s have more features I think. Garmins are very, very dependable.

Hi everyone,I just joined today. I'm in the market for a new small SUV and I don't want to give up any of the luxury items for a smaller, agile and fuel efficient SUV.

While I really like the Rogue, I was disappointed to find that Nissan didn't offer a navigation system for it. Perhaps Nissan thinks you should drive something bigger to have this feature! In any case, I'd really rather car makers get a little more with the technology that surrounds us today!

It's time to have power and audio jacks on top of the dash, under where you would naturally place a NUVI GPS or iPod. And I don't mean with a clunk cigar-size lighter jack. Almost all these devices have USB power in and line audio out. Why not put those jacks on the top, say at the top edge of the center speaker grill with a properly colored little rubber plug over them just like you have over the jacks on your cell phone.

Then it would be easy to mount you GPS or MP3 player to the windshield and with a short cable connect to the USB power jack and audio input. No more dangling cables down the front of the dash! The lighter jack lower on the dash can be left for charging charging your cell phone. Or if you're still living dangerously, to light up.

Come on Nissan, lead the way! Let the other guys add another cigar-size power jack and string cables to a jack on the front of the radio. Vehicles can be more sophisticated than that.

Thanks,Charles

Interesting post... The Rogue comes loaded (SL AWD) with most features that anyone could want and it's not considered a "luxury" vehicle. How many times do you really use GPS? The cool factor wears very quickly. Heck, I'll just get directions from my phone at worst case for the hand full of times I actually need it per year. If you like to travel a lot, pick up a quick portable unit, it will pay for itself. For $25,000 or less, this vehicle is far more sophisticated than most in it's price range. If GPS is your main requirement you may want to rethink your priorities. I'm happy with my SL AWD Rogue with HID, 6 disc cd changer, MP3/WMA playback, RDS, XM, eight speaker system with subwoofer, front Aux input jack, Intelligent keyless entry and ignition, Bluetooth phone system, etc...technology surrounds me in my everyday drive!

Here in Canada NAVI (with rearview monitor) on other Nissan's (i.e. Maxima, Altima) is a $3000 option. In the US it's part of the tech packages and appears to cost even more... +$6000 WOW! If it were available on the Rogue, I would expect cost to be similar.

You can buy a very good standalone nav system for a fraction of the cost.

My point is NUVI and other GPS devices are common place now. So many companies are offering good GPS units for well under $500 that they were one of the most popular consumer electronics gifts this last holiday.

I agree and prefer not to pay the outrageous prices car companies want for a built-in nav system. But if they believe that navigation is a premium feature I suggest they subscribe to "TwiCE" and learn a bit more about consumer electronics. GPS is no longer worth $1500 or more.

So, my point was: I would appreciate it if car manufacturers would stop assuming you don't mind using a cigarette lighter jack to power your phone charger, MP3 player and GPS. They can easily put the right type of power for many if not most of these devices on the dash or console where you need it using a relatively small connector. My Blackberry, iPod and NUVI all accept a 5V USB input. More than one semiconductor company makes an very cheap (about $1) regulator to power the multiple USB ports on PCs. Why shouldn't car companies realize that cigarette lighters are best used for what they are and use this type of chip to put USB power jacks where they are needed on top of the dash and console where they are needed and, put the audio input for the radio there too.

Sorry if my post wasn't clear. I'll continue to use my NUVI if a Rogue turns out to be my next vehicle. I just would prefer not to have all the cables draped over the dash and console for my GPS, phone and iPod.Charles

This has been discussed before. Can you upgrade to a better OEM unit? Yes, but the cost verses what you get in return doesn't make it worth doing. You'd be better off getting a decent aftermarket unit that will have all the features you want, plus sound better, and regularly update maps that are a lot more accurate.

Just so you know, if you wanted to buy a brand new OEM radio w/satellite it will cost you between $3,800 to $4,000.

Why did you got the S trim when you could've gotten an SV with the tech or premium package (which includes Navi)? You would need lots of adapters, sensors, etc., list goes on... totally not worth it.. Get yourself a handheld garmin or tomtom GPS.

in my opinion, the stock nav isnt worth it either....it's not live, can't tell you where speeding cameras or red light cameras are and how to avoid traffic. get an aftermarket system from a reputable installer!

You also got to remember, the stock OEM Navi will freeze more frequent than any other OEM Navi... that's a huge issue.

I agree. I picked up a Garmin unit and it is much handier to speak to in traffic. I adjusted to voice input to respond to "hey Garmin". Now I have to say, "hey Garmin, hey siri, ok google" to talk to the multiple devices in the rogue but all 3 combined are much easier than Nissan's voice command system.
