My husband has the Pioneer AVIC-F90BT installed in his Z and it's driving him crazy. He's thinking of returning it and getting another unit. He's had to reset it several times now, is tired of it showing him off the road or freezing. I'll be researching crutchfield.com for some feedback on other units.

Do any of you, in your infinite wisdom and experience, have any nav systems that you're very happy with (please list pros and cons, if possible) or ones I should steer clear of? If you have any other web resources for me to research, that would be greatly appreciated as well.

We got him this fancy new unit and he still likes my old unit better. Not a good thing.

Try a garmin nuvi portable - you can fit them in the cubby hole above the stereo and also move them between cars

Thanks, but I'm looking for something to replace the one below. He's thinking of the '09 Pioneer model coming out soon, but I think it will be riddled with bugs, just like what he's got now. I'm trying to give him more options.

I've been going on trips for the past couple days with a friend...and his Magellan...what a piece! This thing couldn't keep up with him driving 60 Mph. the directions were there but the map often froze or flipped traveling directions. The settings have to be chosen carefully as well, we had two cars/two magellans at one point. One took us to the highway and the other car was guided to a ferry.

I have this installed & it works great. Fast & accurate routing. The lower level Kenwood models use the same Garmin GPS setup. You can also update the maps every year if you wanted to for ~$100.

They can be found for $800-900. Find a wholesaler or look to ebay.

I would go with authorized dealer like crutchfield since kenwood would probably not offer warranty if you buy from an unauthorized dealer.

I got mine from an authorized wholesaler/retailer. He just didn't charge the markup because I bought a bunch of other audio equipment from him, but the unit is only ~$700 from Kenwood.

How long has your husband had his F90BT? Do you know if it has the updated firmaware? I think it's called 2.0. http://www.pioneerelectronics....eries

The early units had serious glitchyness issues and were said to load very slowly, but I have been told that the update is a substantial improvment. It is interesting to see the reviews on Crutchfield... not good at first, now pretty respectable. I'm very interested to know, since I'm casually considering buying one at Norton's.
