My wife has a friend in japan who has improted a '05 Frontier NISMO crew, he's trying to install a navigation system and needs to know where the speed sensor and back up sensor are (or presumably where the wires are, ECU pins or?). I'm not familiar with this truck, all I know is it's automatic (don't know if it's 4x4 or 4x2, but could find out if necessary)

Nissan in Japan wouldn't help him with a request for schematics.

Does anyone have an FSM? Or schematics ? Or know if this info is availabel on-line anywhere?

Has anyone here installed a Navigation system?

Thanks for any help.

-Martin.

I havent worked on many of these yet, so I will need to see if I can pull the schematics on it tomorrow.

Eww good luck with this. I pulled up the service manual. The speed sensor is not your typical speed pick up. there is no one wire he can tap into due to the way this system works. Let me explain how it works and possibly you can understand how this wont work with typical pick ups.

The speed signal comes from all the abs sensors at the wheels. The ABS control module averages the 4 signals to come up with the speed. It then trnasmits that signal to the unfied meter control unit on a high speed data line [ a line used to communicate about every function on the vehicle] This line is used much like a internet connection line is used. It can transmit an ungodly amount of information at once. After the unfied meter sees it it then transmits back out that same line the signal to the ECM , and TCM [if its automatic] As you can see a device could not pick out which signal being sent down that line was the speed signal as it is in a code of sorts and not a pulsing speed signal you used to get from a conventional speed pick up. Heres the bad news even if it could determine the signal if you tried to splice into that wire the vehicle would go into what is called CAN failsafe. The vehicles total operation would become very limited.
