Larz, in a similar thread from yesterday you mentioned:

Aside from that, you can check on Ebay because people who upgraded to 2014 usually try to sell their 2013 or older discs. If your car still has the 2005-2006 disc, you may be able to find a disc on Ebay which will be years newer than yours at a great price.
but if you do that, you won't be getting a code from Navteq that would allow the software to be loaded in your car, will it?

Edit: hmmm, so maybe that's part of the difference with the newer 2011 and up models?
