Navigation - seting a destination from my address book, while driving

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

While driving I wanted to select a stored destination from my address book. I forgot which exit to take while in Toronto. The display only let's me select the first (3) or (4) locations, none of which was the one I needed. If the nav is going restrict me, then why only give me some and not all? I've been looking through my manuals and can not find any details about this. Today I'll test it with voice commands and see if I can get it to work. Thought I would ask others if they new. Thanks dmax

What version of software do you have? You won't find it in any manuals. Good luck.

Join the crowd, I am in the same boat. I can not find over 100 streets on my nav, however, it will find same street name in other cities. The streets are all 2.5-3 years old.

I made them aware of this issue.

I believe you must be stopped and in PARK before you can access all the destinations. CYA... lol

That wasn't the issue. The problem is that Infiniti lawyers got the better of Infiniti software engineers. To pick an entry from the address book (other than 'Home' and the first 3 options that appear) you need to be going under 5mph, which is about that cutoff when Infiniti deem that you are travelling farrrrrrr too fast to do anything of any use on the screen. This is the whole speed sensor override issue again, which actually annoyed me only yesterday. I wanted address book entry #5 but was doing 70mph in the outside lane of I95 heading into Philly. If Infiniti really think it is safer for me to weave through 4 lanes of traffic and stop on the hard shoulder, JUST to select one bloody address from my address book, then I'm not sure what they were smoking.

I really am very tempted to have someone carry out the work to override the speed sensor, but I'm just worried about warranty issues, plus I'm not too keen at having my dashboard ripped apart and wires cut. We need to find one of those Infiniti software guys, bribe him/her and get them to write a software override. A software fix to this would be so much nicer than having to cut wires. Surely just take out the damn 'IF' statement......"IF SPEED > 5mph THEN turn grey, become completely useless and sneer at driver" ----> "IF SPEED >5mph THEN congratulate driver and reward him/her with a plethora of useful tools and functions at his/her fingertip". I jest. Although it would be nice

I agree that the nav system restrictions while moving are really annoying. But, you can at least use the voice recognition and say the address while moving (though that doesn't help if you don't remember the address...)

Thank you all for your replies. I set a voice tag for my destination and was able to set it while driving using voice commands. But, I will soon forget that voice tag! I have had good luck with the nav finding addresses and new routes through Toronto. I never realized a left turn from St.Clair onto Yonge St. was allowed., but the nav knew. (sg77) you called it right...I can never remember the address and I do not want to mess with the override. Cheers dmax!

I see what you mean. I guess this falls under the safety laws.

Thanks for the update and explanation.
