Silly question but, does anyone know how to remove the navigation saftey feature if there is a way; so that I am able to use the navigation while driving? Its stupid that I have to pull over and used it while in other cars your able to do so.

oh crap, that sounds annoying! I haven't picked up my coupe yet, and only used the navigation while parked before. Is the entire thing disabled?? Can you still do things like zoom in and out? Can you still issue it voice commands for new routes while driving? This is going to piss me off.

Diane, most navigation that is factory installed doesnt allow you to do much unless the car is in PARK as per national DOT regulations lol...

Im sure theres some sort of "hack" or mod you can do to the system, its probably the same MOD on all nissan navi's... id do a search and check other forums..

Its been a while since ive seen someone asking how to circumvent safety features lol...

I'm not sure about Nissan's nav but most factory installed navs has a hidden screen where you can disable it but most of the time, you have to do it everytime you start the car.

Some nav-hack includes grounding the parking brake wire connested to the nav so that the nav thinks the car is on park.

Sorry it's not much help but hopefully it provided some info.

I have the 2003 G35 with Navigation. If memory serves me correct I think the only thing you can't do is enter new addresses while mobile. I believe you can access your address book while mobile. Also you can use the other functions like zoom etc. while moving. I will double check tomorrow and get back to yall.

Seraph-

I did the same thing when I tested the coupe with the nav. while it was in park. You are able to zoom in and out, but if you are driving and want to enter a new address you can't. You have to pull over/stop the car in order to do so.... I'm not sure about the voice commands, I don't use them.

I mean my friend has a new 2007 Honda Civic and I know for a fact it allows you to switch addresses and do everything else while driving. Lets hope there is some sort of solution to this "new" crazy nav. safety feature.

Well, I'm willing to hardware mod the wire that detects park if I have to, because I won't be able to stand not being able to enter an address. I suppose if the voice command works well it wouldn't be too big of a deal, but usually those things are pretty hit or miss.

If you do that, just be warned that it voids your warranty and that any problems that happens to the nav, whether it was due to that mod or not, will have to be paid from your pockets. It's a just a little warning as I've seen it many times.

Is this a software hack or a hardware hack? How can I PM you?
