Navigation Reboot

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I picked up my EX35 on Monday, upgrade from my old Rogue and very happy so far.

I have the navigation unit in the car and today on the way into work the system just restarted. I wasn't using the Navigation at the time, just listening to the radio.

Any ideas about this? Does this happen to you?

Congrats on the upgrade :)

What year do you have?

What you might want to do is talk to the service guys at the dealer and ask if they can update your CDDB software. This is the operating software that the AV control unit (radio that controls everything related to the audio system).

This procedure is different from the map update and "should" be covered by your warranty.

Bose® and Around View™ Monitor Package with Navigation Package
Premium Package

I'll ask them when I pick up the registration for the car later in the month to see if they can update it. Hopefully it was a one off thing.

I would strongly suggest calling the service department about a day before you plan on going for your title. Do not rely on the sales person, they fail all to often. This could be a simple interaction but when you just walk in with something like this all too often something goes wrong.

Although it could be possible it is just a one time hiccup. Remember that this is basically a computer. Check your region settings in the address book.

steve this has happened to me a bunch of times already.....

i think the only common factor is i was using music box....while it's not a big deal, even if navi is on after it reboots it picks right back on the navi.

however on music box, after the random reboot it plays the LAST song the was on right after the car was started.

This is a bit more interesting.... I am guessing you have a 2010 as well...

With new software their might be new bugs.

EDIT- I have been completely wrong on this and I have to apologize to you all.
I forgot that the 2010 EX doesn't have the CF slot...meaning the cddb update is different...meaning it might apply to the recent tsb...meaning I suck because while I wrote that post I was on the work computer with the ASSIST software open...meaning I could have looked this up earlier. ahh not being able to see the forest from the trees is indeed fun sometimes.

I will update tomorrow.

I would if it's something to do w/ the HD.... I am assuming data's stored in the same HD (just probably different dir) for Nav maps and Music etc? It doesn't make much sense that if the 'computer' is retrieving data from the HD for the nav and the music at the same time and resulted as a 'crash' / 'reboot'? Not very sure....

Does an update maintain previously saved data?

Well you can export the address book and reimport it. Not sure what else you would need to back up.
