Navigation Question

Some of the 2011 & 2012 Rogue's have an optional navigation system. Other than the initial cost of this factory installed option, is there a monthly fee or subscription? Also, does it get downloads & software updates?

Is it like the XM radio, that's installed but requires a subscription?

GPS signals like FM radio are free to receive. There is no subscription required nor is there any user fees.

The map data can be upgraded. Typically there is a cost associated, but at least you can do it yourself: NAVTEQ - Maps for your Nissan Navigation System

Sadly, Nissan does not offers updates anywhere near as frequent as some portable GPS's. Garmin for example offers updates for their maps at least twice per year.
