You'd also need the DVD player assembly & wiring from the trunk of the donor car, it would need to be further configured so that the menus are unavailable when the car is moving so I'm not sure what that means in terms of how it knows....but if you get it to work without that safety nanny, you'll have accomplished the first nav hack for a Y34.
The bottom line is that you'll end up with a Nav system that's 10 years old and will probbalky not continue to be supported by the company that provides DVD updates. You're better off with a nav system from your phone, one that you can take with you and has better support & integration, ...when you want to use it.
Spend the money on getting your 10 yer old paint in good shape instead.
