My wife is looking at a 20012 G37. It will be our first, And she is in LOVE with the car. However, she researches the heck out of anything before making a purchase (which is not a bad thing), but has found some negative reviews on the navigation system from G37 owners. Complaints range from outdated technology to erroneous directions, exiting to early to just plain bad directions, and not intuitive to learn

She is not the most technology minded person, and I hate to get her a car that she will: 1 get lost when using nav, and 2 get frustrated learning how to use it.

I am hoping that someone on this forum will provide some honest feedback.

Come on. At this time 9 members have viewed this post and no one has bothered answering. Does anyone use their Navigation system? I'm looking for a little feedback here. I am a member of another forum and they are very helpful. Is this SOP for members of this forum?

I use mine in an 11 G37S sedan and have no adverse issues.

Thank you so much. This is exactly what we need to hear. We drove three different G37's, all three had nav. One base, another with the Premium Package and on "S" model. I really loved the "S"', but sure don't like the idea of buying different size tires, and not being able to rotate them. The G37 is such a beautiful car, and has everything we are looking for. Now, if a few more would chime in and confirm this is not a problem.

I am extremly disappointed with the members of this forum! At this time 44 members opened this thread, and only one took the time to provide feedback. How long does it take to answer a simple question for a prospective owner of a G37?

There is one drawback with the Infiniti Nav. The updates are a tad pricey. I don't do them more than every couple years or so though.
I've had no problems with different size tires and you can rotate them - side to side - unless they are directional tires which the OEMs are not.

You're a little impatient. Many folks just look through here and only comment if they see something they either have personal experience with or already know something about. Most don't visit every day, I know I don't, so give it a little time.

Thanks, I do tend to be impatient with people. I would like to express my sincere apologies for my Kurt comments. I am just so anxious to get some feedback so we can make a informed decision.

 I have to agree with the other person who replied to this request; most of us do not access this site on a daily basis. Although I LOVE my 2013 G37X Coupe, I do not have the time to access this forum on a regular basis. I have used the Nav System around St. Louis, which has many little side streets that ALL populated the mapping feature, as well as traveled to other states without any issues. I too found the updates pricey; however, being out-of-date or sending me in the wrong direction as seen in the Mayhem commercials is never a problem. :bigthumb: I hope this helps, and please have patience with this forum. Most post wonderfully informative news, hints, advice, etc. These are wonderful vehicles; however, NOTHING is perfect, and this is not a perfect car. Treat her right and she will treat you well. :) :dblthumb:

Thank you for taking time to reply. I was frustrated that over 60 members read the post and didn't bother to respond. I do understand that many do not login hourly, or everyday. I very much appreciate the feedback. It relieves our country concerns regarding the navigation system. We have a great local used car dealer who is searching the auctions/lease returns for a G37 with the options and colors we want. As soon as he findz need that fits our wishes and wants we will be officially joining this ranks of the G37 owners.

I have a 2012 with Nav and it does take some getting used to it.
The biggest disadvantage is a passenger cannot input an address into it while the vehicle is moving.
I had purchased a Black Friday Garmin special on Amazon a few years ago for my previous 06 G35.
I carry it and sometimes use both. I turned the sound off on the vehicle Nav and just look at the screen for when to make turns. When using the Garmin I have the sound on.
One other thing about factory Nav is the US is divided into regions so when we drive from NJ to Florida I have to do a region change when in Florida.
Overall I like it especially when trying to find a Cracker Barrel Restaurant in the dark as some are hidden behind buildings. The Nav will find restaurants, gas stations, etc when you are close to them within a couple of miles.

Buy it! You'll get used to it

:yesnod any time! I like replying and sharing the wonderful (& although few and far between not so enjoyable) experiences with my G37X. Having an awesome dealership makes it a most enjoyable experience and can make or break the deal; however, if you go into the transaction informed, it helps tremendously. Sounds like you are trying to fill-in-the-blanks and understand what you and your wife potentially be buying. This forum has a plethora of information that can seem ridiculous at times but you can find out the most interesting things within the minutia! Again, good luck & cannot wait to welcome you and your wife! :wavey:

I just bought a CPO 2011 G37x. It's a beautiful car with a great ride. I love everything about the car except that I am disappointed in the NAV so far. It is not intuitive to use and the map seems to be missing well established roads.

I live in northern NJ which is hardly a rural area. Last week I was taking my son to a track meet a few towns over and I though I would try to use the NAV but the address could not be found in the system. I used Google maps on my iPhone to get to the meet instead. When I looked on the NAV map when I arrived, my location did not appear on the map. I just saw my little yellow arrow on an otherwise blank screen even though I was surrounded by buildings that were at least 20 years old on a well established road.

Today, while using the NAV on the way back from a lunch meeting that was about 20 miles from my house (I have my home address programmed in the NAV as "Home"), the NAV seemed to glitch out and kept routing my on and off the same highway as if it were caught in some circular vortex. It had me on I-287N for about 2 exits then had me exit, cross over the overpass, and get on I-287S for 2 exits, exit, cross over the overpass and get back on I-287N. I tried to give the NAV the benefit of the doubt for about 15 minutes before I cancelled the route. I had to cancel and restart the navigation route twice before the directions seemed to make sense. I now have little confidence in the NAV.

I definitely would not spend the extra money to have in-car navigation. Google maps or a Garmin Nuvvi seem to work much better as a practical matter.

Since its a used car the question is were any updates to the nav system done? That could explain why addresses were not coming up. Mine is an 11 and I've done one update, after skipping one, and there was another one out fairly recently.

I have no issues with the Nav I had in my '07 nor my Q50.

Updates to the nav do come out from time to time and they can be updated via Infiniti for a price.

I have no issues however the Navi is a bit antiquated. So I still use my iphone for navigation.\I use Waze, awesome app, tell you where cops, red light camera, car stopped on the side of the road, as well as roadkills. I also use the TomTom app as well. thes apps are always updated and tells you the live traffic without subscriptions.
