Apologies if this was posted elsewhere - I searched and did not find it.

The updated Infiniti navigation DVD is on sale for $99 with free 5-12 day shipping. Total cost to me in California was $106.92.

Their website says "This special offer of $99 is only available through June 30, 2013". Hopefully that's just an oversight on their part and they mean 2014, but I figured it's best to order now in case they change the date to something earlier than June 30, 2014.

dafuq? I have to let the dealer install my map updates? Had the car for 2 weeks and never used the Nav once, but I did program my home address just in case. Im sticking with Waze.

After you add the DVD to your 'cart' and go to checkout, it specifies " 2014 v7.9" so it is the latest version.

Surprise! The 06 & 07 models have a bluetooth / NAV unit inside the glove box and it uses a single DVD for the NAV function. Your model year does not have this unit. Instead, an Infiniti dealer has to downlowd them to your car's HD. You have to purchase the update from the dealer or NavTeq .... then have the dealer do the install. It would still be much cheaper to buy it direct from NavTeq - you get a discounted price AND avoid any mark-up charged by the dealer. You still have to pay the dealer to intall it - they are the only ones with access to your car's HD.

Yeah um.. I prefer the maps on my phone anyway. Maybe on a long road trip I'll let the car help out with navigation. But I'm not royalty on Waze for nothing!

Thanx for the heads-up! I did have to pay for shipping tho. About $112.00 total w/tax (WA). Interestingly, I've yet to be misled by the NAVTEQ maps vs my smartphone apps (to include Waze, CoPilot, Google Maps and my favorite Sygic).

Antz, I could not agree more! NavTeq does a brilliant job with updates. Case in point: We were driving through Marylandd last year and there is a place near the northern end where I-95 switches to the I-695 for a few miles. To get back onto I-95 north, you must be in the far left lane as the on-ramp is on that side. The lady in the glovebox kept telling me to stay in the RIGHT lane and I reprimanded her harshly each time she said it. Mind you, I had driven this route countless times before and the on-ramp IS indeed on the left. Fetucini (the I-phone geenie) yanked out two of her countless apps for NAV and both apps told me to keep to the LEFT. I stayed in the left lane but about 1 mile before the junction, there was a bloody huge sign that reads: I-95 North RIGHT lane!
Sure enough, they had completely re-done that section of the hwy with new ramps and the I-95 on-ramp was on the right! I had to cross 5 lanes of motorway at high speed to get in the proper lane. Then Fetucini made me aplogise to the lady in the glove box LOL

Thanks for the heads up guys! I'll be buying this update for my 06 M45 S, I bought this car last year and it still has the original NAV disc in it. I knew this before I bought the car.

I guess I should do the same and update my map, Im getting tired of taking detours since my city has many new roads which aren't in the database.
So for an 06 model its simply pop in the DVD? What sucks is the old cd is basically useless now

You can attempt to sell it on e-bay. An '06 map tho won't be worth much. But, once you've got the most recent you can sell it on e-bay next year for about 1/2 the price of the new, and then get the new at a 50% discount year after year as I do.

Good idea, Antz. If you update semi-regularly, your disc on Ebay won't be very old and will sell much faster.
Similarly, if your disc is the original 2006 or so, you can probably get by with a 2011 or 2012 disc for a good price.
Necessity for an upgrade is going to be different for each of us but I think most won't need to update each and every year. It depends on how many raod trips you take. If you have a 2012 disc, you may be able to wait for the 2015 disc next year. This sale is an annual event at NavTeq usually in the spring.

So, if I have a 2007 M with Navi that has never been updated, can I buy the 2015 software (when it comes out) or do I have to by a certain year first?

The 06-07 run directly off of the disc. There is no installation, so there is no "upgrade vs full purchase" issue. In case it is comforting, I installed the 2014 disc this year and was running the original disc prior to that.

Let's just say that is a little too comforting :gapteeth: Thanks for the input 00

I just went online and bought the 2014 version a few minutes ago. I am very happy for this forum. I read on another thread that there is usually a sale in May or June for the Navi. Sure enough it expires in 3 days. I made my move. Can't go wrong driving a 2007 Infiniti with 2014 Navi for $100.

In the event anyone is wondering ... I have the 2014 disc in my 07. The graphics seem the same as the old 2012 disc it replaced. I don't update yearly - I do it every other year.
One flaw it still has specific to me: My mate Nigel's neighborhood went posh a few years back. The neighborhood is now 'closed' with only one street to enter and another street to exit. There are no 'thru' streets so no reason to enter the area if you don't live there.
The 2010 and 2012 discs directed me to an entrance that no longer exists, and when leaving the neighborhood it directs me to use the one-way entrance as the exit street. The 2014 disc still does that same thing.

Given that you see an obvious issue with the latest disc telling you the wrong thing, you should report it here:
https://mapreporter.navteq.com/

I'm not saying they'll fix it, because in my experience, they aren't great about it the way Google is, but if they don't know about it they can't fix it, so it's worth a shot, right?

Personally...

As long as it's better than the 2007 Navi, I'll be fine with that.
