My car didn't have a NAV disc with it, so I just got a 7.3 in the mail today. How does this thing work? I would figure that it would know where i was, but I had to manually adjust my location to try and put my car in the right spot and point it in the right direction with the "adjust my location setting". Could this be an issue with my NAV? My software? Anything that I can do or do I have to take it to the dealer? Thanks.

Gee, I just pop in the disc and whammo, the Nav unit brings up the correct Nav screen w/me located just fine? Did you get an original disc, or a copied one? I'm not familiar w/your "point the car" in this direction vs that?

Anyone else?

Original disc...not copied. When the dealer I bought it tried to give me the 7.0 disc from 1936 it did the same thing. You would have to go to settings/NAV/edit my location and place the cursor where you are. Then you have to tell it which direction you are pointing. I will take it to the dealer.

Heheheee 7.0 disc from 1936..? I guess I've never had to get into the settings and edit my location-yet. Yeah, take it to the dealer-it's probably somethng too simple you (me-anyone else on this list) just missed. I hate it when that happens. The dealer just looks @ you like; duh? Let us know what happened.

I am aware that 7.4 just came out, but $70 right now sounded a lot better than $215 and the 7.3 is much more updated than the 2004 Phaeton's Nav that I just sold.

Can't you just update your location in the Nav Settings?

I had to do it with mine since the car came from the north.

It should be $199 with free shipping, using the code "1INF74810", which does not work right on a web order, but the phone order people will give you free shipping. I did not order it yet because they are not shipping it until after 12/1.

I ordered my 7.4 and received it a few weeks ago. I paid $216 US delivered. I sold my old 7.3 on E-Bay for $98 US delivered. What I found w/7.4, just in my small city, was that I didn't really see any difference in added anything. But apparently there are more directions added for the more populous cities of N. America.

Jeff. Were you driving a Phaeton? Wow what a machine it looked like. I wanted one but couldn't afford it when they were making them. When they d/c it I figured I'd not get a used; no parts.

Yes, I had a Phaeton and it was a very special automobile. I had been driving it for 2 1/2 years and was ready for a change. You can get them dirt cheap right now, but make sure you have a warranty b/c 60% of the parts are Bentley parts so $$$$$. A center console leather cover alone was $500! I love my M but there are not many cars that can match the Phaeton in terms of a luxurious experience/drive...however, completely different experience and feel.

Regarding adjusting your position, yes you can do that, but I have to do it multiple times per day...it just doesn't work. If I drive over 10 miles, it will have my position off by 1/4 of a mile or more which is hard once you get in town because it has no idea what street you are on. I am taking it in next week to get fixed...probably just an antennae issue or something.

I complained that the nav in my new 08 m35x was guiding me like a drunken sailor, basically getting me lost more than my 07 M, and the infiniti certified mech did not even know it was part of the hard drive now.He was looking in the glove box and under the seat lol... Not like this car had not been out for a year lol..Any body else having any issue with 08 M nav systems?? They said it was working just fine......?ThanksChaz
