Navigation Acting Up

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Since I had my regular maintenance done at the dealer last Friday, the navigation unit is acting weird. When I turn on the car and enter an address, it places the car on another street about 100 yards away from my actual location. It then gives directions based on the wrong location, even as I drive and change streets. What is even weirder, about 10 minutes later, after two miles traveling in the city, it suddenly picks up the correct location. This happened twice since Friday, and the navigation corrected itself at the same location about 2 miles from my house.

Has anyone experienced this? The service done at the dealer wasn't related with the navigation unit or other electrical components, but I'll definitely call them tomorrow and ask.

your gps probably didn't pick up enough satellites for an accurate position. i don't know how fast gps is fully functional from cold start because i only use it well after 10 or 20 min on the road

This never happened before. It used to always pick up the satellites immediately after I start my car.

What did you have done to your car when it was in for service.

Having the antenna disconnected would cause this in many instances.

Regular 7500 miles service, and rotor resurfacing. It started working as normal today though. Maybe something got loose in the antenna during the courtesy wash?

I find that whenever I think I am having a good week or other extended period of time without some type of issue without fail something like this happens after a quick service.

If it starts to act up I would look into a further but maybe the satellite signal was weak in Boston a few days ago. Anything is possible and if satellite signal is weak triangulation will be slightly off.

Makes sense. I will keep an eye on it. If it does it again, time for another visit to the dealer..
