I bought my coupe without the technology package but I'm having second thoughts about installing a navigation system. My question is, should I go back to the dealer or buy it else where, and if so, will it affect my warranty?

By the way, I just came across this website and liked it. Good job to all participants.

Well I can tell you this the dealer ship that I work at if someone would to have Installs done during coverage time it was voided for the system of the car. Say like you do something to the motor it was voided. So like you doing that say like if something went wronge in the dash it was voided. So best things to do is talk to the dealer ship were you got it and see what policies they have.

Yes, do a search on aftermarket vs factory navigation, or something to that effect. We've had a number of threads on the benefits/drawbacks of factory vs aftermarket navigation systems... I'm at work now, but when I have a chance, I'll post links to all relevant threads... oh yeah, WELCOME TO NICO!

Thanks, I'll do some research. I think it's 5 thousand if I take it back to the dealer, the technology package. But I figured I could get something cheaper with the aftermarket. I was just worried about my warranty.

Great site again!

The first link is to the AVIC D3 installation write up

The second link is to a good Q and A session regarding aftermarket vs factory nav systems. As you'll see from the many discussions, usually aftermarket systems are superior for a number of reasons, not to mention cheaper!!! Plus aftermarket nav units come with DVD players built in, in addition, you can still retain steering wheel control of everything except bluetooth, but you can purchase aftermarket bluetooth units, XM units, and rear view cameras all for LESS than the factory nav units!

Check the links out, and if you still have questions, just hit us up!!

Wow, that was a handfull. Those two links were very helpful. This is my first car and to be honest I don't know much about wiring them or doing stuff with them so this is all new lingo for me. You suggest to find an installer first and have him go over the scope of the project first?

I was also looking into new rims cause the factory ones look a little small, and a spoiler. I looked at the other post and are getting good ideas. So thanks for all the help and hope I can contribute once I get rolling.
