I received an E-mail about the 2011 upgrade code. Does anyone know if it actually adds much to the existing data. I have the 2009 software installed in my unit now. I don't care about the cost...just is it a substantial upgrade.

Your going to have to call Navteq and ask what is new in the 8.4 map update. Also remember that this update has to be done at the dealership (if you own a convertible) as the nav software is on a hard drive.

Yeah - I got that too. $149 plus a trip to the dealer for install. WTF?

Dealer wants $81 to install it.

Installed by dealer today. Looks like a waste of time and money. The bar across the bottom that shows temp or radio info is a bit smaller with smaller text. I don't see any improvements but I do live in a fully mapped area.

Not worth the time and the cost... 2009 map/nav is fine for the amount of driving ...

It does take some time to upgrade...Infiniti did not design the system to be user friendly for updates.

They update new subdivisions/roads mostly...

Ok just got back form a trip from VA down through the carolinas. Places that said something to the affect that this area is not completely mapped on my last trip are now mapped. I did not run into a single place that was not complete. So my mind has changed....to me the upgrade was worth it and I would do it again.

Not worth the time and the cost... 2009 map/nav is fine, the one upgrade code is really 2010 map, the 2011 will be released in Sept 2011.

Not worth the time and the cost... 2009 map/nav is fine, the 2011 map up dates s/b 8.4 or 8.5

When you did the update, did it still go straight to the nav screen after startup? What I am making sure is that there is no OK button to push after you start the car.

navigation updates do not change any of the functionality of the system... they only update the actual map (streets, road names, construction).

so, if your system requires you to press "OK" before seeing the map, installing this update won't change that. it will still show the "OK" screen and always will.

My car has always gone straight to the screen It was on when I turned it off. No OK button unless you were last using the nav screen. Then while driving if I change to the nav or map screen I get the OK button. I have the KP tech nav over ride installed but that only deals with the OK push if you start with the nav or map screen. The KP tech module is great for entering data in grayed out areas when you are on the move. I also have the KP one push top open module that I use all the time.
