On my status screen, it says that the map version is 06-07. Sounds like last years. Does anyone know if and how Infinity can update it?

I forget where I heard this but is it true that we'll be loading updates through the compact flash slot?

I doubt if there are any updates to the maps yet. I didn't see anything on Infiniti's web site, nor did anything come up on a search.

I was told you'll have to take the car to the dealer for map updates, for a fee of course. Not sure how they'll update the data on the hard drive.

After paying >3K for a 2008 NAV system, I would expect 2008 maps without having to pay for them. No?

Nav option is $2200 not >$3K. Although I guess you could argue that it cost $5400 since you must have the $3200 Premium Package in order to add Nav.

As far as the maps go, you should have the latest update that Infiniti was loading onto the nav systems when your car was being built. Any updates beyond that would come from the dealer.

And as of Sept 4 when I took delivery, the local dealer didn't have accessories (or spare parts!) for the G37s yet, let alone TSBs or software updates.

EDIT: As far as free updates since you bought a '08 model, that would be up to your dealer and Infiniti of North America to make that call. I seriously doubt you'll get it for free. Or, it'll be free software + labor charges (1-2 hours, depending on if they have to physically remove the nav system to perform the update).

I did some looking around. The company that does the navigation data for the G37 is here:

New software to be released on Oct 1, 2007

I just called Zenrin. The guy said that since this is the first hard drive based system, they have not worked out the update process. When they do in 1-2 months, they will probably give out a key code that you would take to the dealership for their update to be done there. Not disc based though.

Has anyone heard if Infiniti is offering a software update for the NAV system. Can someone who recently took delivery of a G37 check to see if it is now shipping with the 07-08 NAV map package.

Being a long time Garmin users and have a nuvi 680 now, its rather frustrating that most of these Nav systems are at least 2 years out of date, that's even if you had the 2008 version. Reading Zenrin's site it appears they do their own surveying. I can attest to Zenrin being out by 2 years consideirng the expansion in my sub-division isn't mapped. I wonder how many folks they employ to do this.. what a job lol. What's worse is you spend the bucks for an update only to find out that the area you need still isn't mapped..grr. It would be nice if you could preview the map online, which garmin offers. The best updated maps I've been able to find actually are Google maps, I wonder where they get their data from.
