Nav System: Can't Cancel a Route

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

This weekend while out of town, I attempted to use my nav system only to discover that the system believes it has an active route, which can be resumed or recalculated but cannot be cancelled. When you try to cancel it, the system response is that the route has been paused. I can still initiate a new route by pressing the DEST button (Destination) and entering it that way, and then the new route overrides the old one, butit also cannot be cancelled. Well, there is a Cancel button, but when you click it, the route is paused and not cancelled. In other words, no matter what is going on with my system, when I click the Route button, the system is always already in the active route state. I called Infiniti and after 10 minutes on hold, they asked me to call my dealer. I called my dealer and they asked me to bring it in next time I service it. Turning the car off and on has no effect on this.

Has anyone else had a problem like this? Is there a way to truly clear the memory of the nav system? Thanks!

I've cancelled "route guidance" without any issues.

Are you trying to make these commands while the vehicle is moving?

What happens when you are stopped?

Some NAV choices kinda fade out when the car is moving... and then come back into being when the car is stopped.

In the Manual, it speaks of the functions that are disabled while driving.

As for clearing or deleting the routes, yes there is a way and it's in the NAV Manual.

Thanks for replying.

I did a fair amount of troubleshooting, so no I was not moving (that was the first thing I tested) and turning the car off and on does not affect the problem. I've had the car for nearly a year and never had this problem before, but something happened last Friday and now the system is stuck. I also managed to stump Infiniti with this one, so I'm gathering that it's not a common bug.

I did look in the manual at the troubleshooting sections and couldn't find anything about this problem. I don't want to delete a stored address--I want to be able to cancel out of a route and for some reason--I'm almost certain this is a software bug--it won't let me. Instead, it "pauses" the route.

Hi all, new here. I just bought a 2010 EX Journey a month ago and brought it in to a Infiniti dealership in Orlando for the 22500 service. While I was there I had asked them to check for any software updates and they found several including updating my NAV system (Which i really have no way of checking I guess) but this was done free of charge so if you live near an Infiniti dealership a simple software update might fix your issue? Good luck.
