Nav system bug?

I haven't used the nav system much since I haven't recently done much driving in unfamiliar territory, but a few days ago, I set in a destination that required going about 12 miles north on I-43 as the main leg of the trip. I used voice commands to set the destination, and it appeared to get this right, including recognizing the street name, city name, etc. However, the system INSISTED that I go south on I-43. No part of the destination city was less than about 8 miles north of my point of origin.

Has anyone seen this sort of behavior? Is there some error that I might have made? I knew it was wrong, but if I hadn't, well....

When you self corrected-did the NAV self correct itself to the correct path or did it tell you to turn back around?

Before bringing this in to get it evaluated, I would say try using it more and see if there is a discrepancy in your location from the point on the map.

It is possible given your admitted lack of use, to loose a GPS signal if it is not activated regularly.

it *could* be an error in the part of Navteq (the company that builds the GPS maps and the routing information)

test it out in different areas and see if the erroroneous routing still occurs

do you know what version of the Nav DVD you are using?

I'm not sure what you mean by "self-correct." I just kept driving north, as I knew I had to do, ignoring the nav system. It kept telling me to get off the highway at each exit, turn around, and go south, and when I didn't, it would try again at the next exit. It got all the names of the exits right, seemed to know exactly where we were. It just wanted me to go in exactly the wrong direction. It absolutely refused to give up. This would make sense if I had given it an incorrect destination to begin with, but I did all of that with voice commands, which it recognized and accepted.
