I am going to look at a 2008 M45x, with most of the packages.

Is there anything that I can bring up on the NAV that will let me know/figure-out what version the maps are?

If I like the car enough to make an offer (it's at a dealer) and I can determine what version/release/year the maps are, I would work the update into the deal.

Thanks.

yeah, you can go into settings and then scroll down to the bottom of the navigation tab and the last menu option will say something like "nav version" or something along those lines. You select that and it will say the version and year of the maps.

do your best to get this mixed into the price because it will run you around $170 for the update and another $150ish to have the dealership install the update on the HD navigation.

Thank you for the information and that is exactly what I did.

After the test drive, I was not certain if I wanted to buy the M45x I went there to look at. There was nothing wrong with the vehicle, it was the interior color that I was not pleased with. THe dealership was dead all day until JR and I arrived. Within 10 minutes two other couples arrived and both were looking at the M. :gotme

In the end, I bought it and the dealership will, along with a couple of other things, update the NAV when the new maps come out; which I read somewhere in these pages is next month. After that, they will install all future updates for free all I need do is pay NAVTEQ for the code.
