I recently bought a M35 that has Navigation but the disc (DVD and CD) and instruction book is missing. I bought the navigation dvd (7.4) but is says disc error. Is there a certain way to load the disc?

Or, you did what I did...inserted it in the DVD slot in the console rather than the one in the glove box.

Maybe it's a bad disc. Oh and I did put it in the DVD player in the glove box.

When you say bad NAV box you mean the DVD unit itself or is there another unit? I just received three more disc and they don't work. My M35 is a 2006 model and the versions sent to me are 3 different 7.4's and 1 7.3. I'm getting really fustrated. I guess I got to dish out the $200.00 for the real thing then huh?

The DVD based NAV Box...and its located in the upper part of your glove box and accepts DVD-ROM Nav disks.

If you have the tech package, then you have you a DVD player in the middle armrest compartment tween the seats. This is NOT the NAV.

The car is fully loaded. I assume the disc's are bad since they are copies. I just bought the real 7.4 disc and just waiting for it.

Sounds like whoever is making the copies isn't setting the book-type to DVD-ROM which is a common mistake.

'08s have hard drive based NAV. Unfortunately, you have to go to the dealer and get the update through them...IE, bend over and take it.

I have a 2007 and I can't believe out dated my nav is. There are streets at least 15 years old that are not on the maps. These are not backroads or alleys but main roads into neighborhoods

08 M's have a hard drive based Nav system, so probably have to pay for the update...
