Hey guys... I am always reading post but never write my own; however today I have a question. I just completed the nav hack and everything works fine except for the brake light comes on when the car is moving? When I stop the car the brake light will go off. Must be connected with the GPS and when the car shows motion, the light goes on.

Did I do something wrong, or does this happen to everyone with the Nave hack?I have a 06 M35x, any help or suggestions would be great!

Pretty sure you did something wrong - what year and model car do you have?

Happened on a hack I did for another guy. Problem there was ground wire was making contact with metal clip on cup holder. I should've installed the switch a lil lower into the wallet tray. Anyhow, check ya wiring and make sure you aren't grounding out somewhere.

Welcome to Nico, actively at least.

You know at first I was reading this thinking the rear brake lights were on. So my initial thought was the wrong brake sensor was modified.

If you are synthesizing the parking brake signal at the signal point the circuit will operate as it should, illuminating the brake light to warn you. It's been a while since I read the hack instructions but it seem like the light in the gauges would come on whenever the VDC control unit and combination meter senses the contacts are closed and sends a signal to all the other control units that care.

If you isolated the input signal to the AV CU you will not have a problem with the light. However I highly suspect you cut the wire at the sensor or put the switch in the wrong part of the wire. In either case you need to pull it out and see what's wrong.

Thanks for the help guys! It took me a few minutes but I realized I had one wire in the wrong location. I re-wired and everything works great! Thanks again for your help!
