Nav/AUX bypass Mod 2010 EX

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I just attempted the NAV/AUX parking break/VSS bypass on the 2010 EX AWD/Journey (NAV). The wiring is very different than what is posted on the sticky. the 20x2 wiring harness has no wires in the 36/38 position for what is supposed to be the parking brake and VSS wires.

Has anyone done the mod on a 2010 EX with Nav? Anyone have access to the 2010 service manual to get the proper wires figured out? Finding parking brake should be pretty easy with voltometer but VSS would be a bit more daunting.

Thanks

I actually ended up buying the 2010 service manual from infinihelp.com - worth it....

here's the new wiring diagram attached.

But basically, you are looking for wire #65-Violet (Parking) and #82-red (VSS). Color on mine matched the manual.

Good luck

Good Luck guys, What are you planning on using as your video input source, or are you looking to operate the restricted features?

I use it with my iphone and composite AV cable output ... lets my passenger and the kids watch TV.

Also to be able to fully control the NAV unit while moving.

The wiring diagrams above are for the NAV EX AWD 2010

The nav WILL work with the VSS signal cut BUT the screen will not refresh fast enough for practial use. In other words, you will be missing a lot of turns.

If you have not done so, I'd recommend putting in a switch to reconnect the VSS for navigation use.

Steve the Tech,

I know this topic has been discussed thoroughly as to the 08 and 09 modifications. Yet, I don't recall seeing anyone clearly post that these mods in an EX with nav would allow unrestricted access to the blocked functions for the music box. I am sick of not being able to search for an album while moving. I am a lawyer and I want to boil the lawyers who came up with this idea! So, can anyone confirm for me that the mods as described in the sticky post for the 09 EX with nav will unlock the music box search feature. Also, has anyone noticed nav not working correctly after these mods were made? Thanks,

RSD

I would highly recommend verifying the factory service manual page posted is for your NAV equiped car. On the G35/G37, the wire harness is different between nav / non-nav cars. I would assume the same for the EX. If done properly, the mod works.

Here are digital gages displayed on mine:

Where is this wiring depicted on the diagram located in ex35?

I don't care about watching video while driving, but I do want to be able to have full NAV and Audio functions while driving. Does cutting the VSS signal really cause the NAV to work slower, causing you to miss turns?

Also, I have a 2011 EX35. Does anyone know if there's any difference between the 2010 and 2011 EX with NAV with regards to this topic?

The VSS wire not being connected should not affect nav response time that much at all. I have a 2011 EX with Nav and have not modified it, but I just installed an aftermarket dvd/nav system in my Altima coupe, and have not connected the VSS wire. That system knows how fast I'm going pretty much spot on and warns me plenty of time before turns. From my understanding of the VSS function it is so the nav system can keep up with your location when you are in a tunnel or have otherwise lost gps signal. In fact, my installer told me they don't connect the vss wire on installs most of the time.

Hi. I stumbled onto this thread while researching the video bypass MOD for my 2011 G37s Coupe. The wiring seems to be different on the 2010 EX then what I am looking at on my 2011 G37. The violet at #65 is not existent, it is a black wire. There are 2 violets in 63 and 64 however. I have done this mod before on my 2008, but they keep switching the damn VSS and E-brake sensors around, so I think they have done it again in 2011. Is it possible for anyone to post the wiring diagram for the 2011 G37s coupe?? I would really appreciate it. This way I can access my handset phonebook while driving and not have to look down at my phone!
