...is tomorrow. Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Doughnuts are giving away free doughnuts to celebrate. :) My favorite is Krispy Kreme (the original glazed). When I was in college in '92, there was a KKreme bakery les than a mile from my dorm. Me and my roommate used to walk there and be waiting on the first run of the morning. They are unbelievably delicious. :yesnod
Unfortunately, there is only one Krisy Kreme store in AZ and it is in Mesa. Which is 60 miles one way from the house. AND it's going to be 112* tomorrow. I am seriously considering making the trek, considering it has been many years since I had one. Hmmmmmm....... what would you do? :gotme

Also, which is your favorite? Dunkin, Krispy Kreme, or something else?

Krispy Kreme original is pretty darn delicious.
My aunt bought us a dozen of em a day when I was staying over for the summer in Arizona.
Yeah, we got pretty fat.

Yeah seriously KK wins no questions asked. I have one only a few miles from my house (lucky me). A hot and freshly glazed doughnut that melts sugary heroin in your mouth as soon as the saliva touches it... I mean cmon, no stuffed room temp doh'nut from anywhere else even comes close. It has a sign that tells you when fresh ones are made AND its 24 hours.

My vote is for Krispy kreme. I have given up on DD. they somehow always seem to give me heartburn. There's a small mom and pop grocery store near me that puts copious amounts of filling in their donuts. They're delicious but messy.

That'll be an expensive donut. Any way to make a day out of it?

If we are speaking strictly doughnuts, and doughnuts only, then I vote KK.
If we bring coffee, Munchkins, and Big and Toasty sandwiches into the mix its an obvious DD all the way.

I prefer DD over Krispy Creme, so I guess I'm in the minority. I very rarely eat donuts, but I have a weakness for DD's Boston Creme donut. Mmmmmmm Donuts Buuuuurrrrrrrrp

Just outta curiosity, what is the price for a dozen KK's there in Amerricuh?

Once I find out, I'll tell how much they go for here.

Now, as for the question, since I live in a land where you can't buy KK's till they open at 10am (doughnuts are considered a desert treat here in JDM land...WTF, Over?), and I rarely eat doughnuts anymore because of that, I have to say KK. But, the grocery store chain my mom used to work for years ago made some pretty awesome cake doughnuts that I loved.

There was also a local place (back home in Galesburg) called Swedough's that was pretty awesome. Their glazed rings were damn near orgasmic. But, in KK's defense, those fresh outta the fryer glazed rings of doughy goodness are the bees knees.

I've never seen that place not have a line an hour long. Of course it doesn't matter when you're hammered at 2 in the morning. But f********ck they have the best donuts ever.

I didnt realize there was an "other" option. I have now voted other, and I VERY strongly stand behind Entemann's Crumb Doughnuts.

THERE IS NO COMPARISON.

Well, FWIW, I did not trek half-way across the desert for doughnuts, tempted as I was. I did stop at DD this morning though and bought a cup of coffee and got my free doughnut. The coffee sucked and the doughnut was meh. Guess I learned my lesson. There just isn't a good substitute for KK. I also checked online nad believe it or not, you can order KK doughnuts online through Amazon. Will wonders never cease. :chuckle: I did not order a box. They were over $12 per dozen. Screw that. I'll find a store and get a couple when I'm in TN this summer.

I have no idea on the price but I was ganna guess at $10 for a dozen. Unfortunately, or luckily, I dont have much of a sweet tooth at all. I drive by our KK almost every day and keep saying Im ganna get some one day.

Being from Dunkin's home turf, I gotta go with dunkin. I agree with Joel. Their boston cream is where it's at. All these damn places here in the south sell nothing but glazed donuts. Its a microcosm for their love of drinking 1 beer all the time (bud light). VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE!

Ok. So now that we know a dozen is about $10-$13, give or take, here in a Japanese KK, a dozen glazed only will set you back 1,600 yen...or in U.S.D....$20.46. What the hell?

I hate you foreign currency exchange rate.

Razi you better do it. I'd hate to see her face if you showed up with no donuts. You'd sleep in the dog house with the rattlesnakes, scorpions, and spiders bigger than your head.
