Ok, SO..Ever since I bought my 1995 240sx it has had this really nasty clunk under hard downshifting or hard braking. It almost sounds like there is a bowling ball in the trunk. I've been told many things that it could be. Someone has said that the center bearing in the driveshaft might be shot, or the U-joints. I've also heard that it maybe my upper rear strut mounts.

I've taken a look at my center bearing and U-joints and their fine. I've also looked at the rear upper strut mounts and the rubber on them seems somewhat soft. I've looked online for them but I cant seem to find any place that carries them.

Does anyone know where I could get some?

has the car had any aftermarket modifications done to it suspension or bushing wise? My car has subframe collars, and It does clunks when I shift. I am sure that if you had the solid mounts it would be much worse. Im doubting that this is the case though.

You could have a blown shock. I know that since i have a front strut that is blown and it clunks when i brake hard or even when come to a stop.not sure about the shiftingthing tho.

check the tension rod bushings. if they're blown so bad that it clunks whenthe weight shifts onto the front, replace immediately. if the noise is coming from the rear, disregard.

as to the strut insulator...buy them from nissan, pretty sure you can get the nismo ones.

thats just some random dealership in texas, your local one can probably order them relatively quickly compared to a "shop", just be prepared for dealer prices...

Check the T/C rod bushings and make sure all of the struts are in good shape.
