Hey there guys been doing some serious research and thought I would start a thread to see what kind of responses I get. I have a 83 720 single cab with a z24 carb'd all stock except for a 5in drop all the way around and custom 2 1/4in exhaust.

basicly I got the suspension where I want it and well the napz is seriously in need of some more ponies to the ground. After reading many many threads I have decided or well let me rephrase that I am leaning towards a head swap.I have heard lots of info that a ka24de head will bolt on to a nap-z24. If anyone out there has done this or knows for SURE this is possible please let me know what you know about it. I here lots of "i heard the heads are swappable" but no one seems to know or if they do they must have the write ups on it well hidden. also was thinking about just doing a ka swap but again there is lots of talk and lots of pics of trucks with the swap but no write ups anywhere.

So anyway any info on a ka swap into a 720. or a ka head swap onto a z24 would be awesome! the little info I have found sais basically that a swap to the ka would mean everything from fuel tank change to a fuel line change sounds intense but makes sense. makes me wonder if the head swap is a little more plug and play?

thanks guys for any info!!!

You would probably want to talk to madscientist over at the z forums. i believe the guys name is mike.He basically took an L28 stroked it to an L30, and then made a inline 6 head out of 2 KA24de heads. There will need to be some sourcing of parts such as custom timing chain and custom front covers. The truck DE head should be used, not the 240sx head because you will need to use the dizzy gear off of the crank rather than head as in the case of the 240sx ka24de head.In all seriousness it would be cheaper to just source a ka24de block from a frontier truck. You can get it pretty inexpensive. There are cooling passage issues using the napsz block, cylinders 3 and 4 tend to run a bit hotter.
