I know someone here will know the answer to this. I was driving about 80 MPH through a turnpike in OK the other night, when I hit what appeared to be almost the entire cap of a retread tire off of a big truck, laying on its side. My 2006 G35X straddled it, but it managed to ruin my bumper cover, crack my radiator open spilling coolant and ATF all over the engine bay (or maybe just knocked the hoses off, couldn't really tell in the dark, but I"m betting it cracked the radiator), and it destroyed my radiator fan and whatever structure the radiator fan is mounted to.

There are two fans, both mounted into the larger fan kit. But (and I may be completely wrong here?) I believe there is a cross-member, made of a fiberglass/plastic composite of a gray color, to which the fan assembly mounts? I don't know the name/number of this part to replace it.

This was all broken and will need to be replaced. Other than painting and replacing the new bumper cover, I can fix this myself. Especially if it gives me a piece of the insurance check to do so. Fortunately, the AC condenser doesn't look damaged, and the AC worked OK when I turned the car on afterwards to check for any weird sounds.

But does anyone know the name of the larger bracing to which the fan assembly mounts?

Just FYI, this brace can be viewed from the top of the engine bay, as the headlights are bolted to it as well. It extends all the way from the top to the bottom of the bay, below the radiator. It has stamped on it,when viewing from the top, "Glass fiber composite".

It's the "radiator core support". I looked for a while before finding that one!

All the ATF had leaked out as well in the three days it had been sitting at the tow lot. I had to put it in reverse for about 10 seconds to get it off the trailer, and it wouldn't go for about 2 seconds. The car/engine was at ambient temperature at that point, so I hope this didn't do any damage.

Man, I get so tired of playing "avoid the truck tire" on the expressway. I have a badly scrubbed section of paint on my lower front right bumper where I could not avoid one while on a bridge.

The Friday before Labor Day this year was one of the hotter days of summer so far in a relatively mild summer down here, so any and all tires on lazy truckers' rigs that were going to go were going to go on that day. I guarantee I could've rounded up a full 5 tires worth of semi rubber every single mile I drove.

The numer one cause of a tire failing on a rig is heat caused by low tire pressure, meaning those truckers are just too damned lazy to check PSI in many instances.

Pretty much. I run into the ones who don't care and simply keep driving. Tire explodes and they just shred it for miles with pieces/parts everywhere.
