That's an IMMU. It goes around the key cylinder and reads the ignition key for the security system. They aren't plug-and-play, when you change one the keys need to be re-registered.

Ok, thanks. This is all coming as a set because IACv ruined my ecm. Was hoping, all i'll need to do is the relearns (?)

On an '02 that should work. There's no BCM involved like later models, and the IMMU and ECM will already be mated. The only thing you should need to do is reeducate the fob.

Right then, thank you. Boy what a pain, re-chipped the ECM but think I damaged the chip due to desolder/resolder, too hot-not careful enough. Before it was steady @ 1200rpm now it's higher and bounces a little can't make the manual relearn work. Have a buddy coming over with a snapon scanner going to give it another try just out of stubbornness and curiosity if my repair was actually good or not. Now have (new) P0505 as well as P0507, haven't tried pulling coil wires yet to assist with relearn, I wonder if that would actually help.
