Hello fine people. I have taken in all the information I can from various sources, and I'm looking for some help.

I have a 90 NA 2 seater with a 5-speed, 160k.

The ECU threw me a 32 and a 34. I relocated the knock sensor, an have not seen the 34 since.

The 32 is another story. I pulled the hose leading to the egr valve, sucked on a clean hose, and was able to both hear the valve engage and disengage, and it did hold vacuum against my tongue for 60 seconds without problem.

I pulled the egr solenoid and tested with 12 volts. It sounded a little weak to me, but the solenoid did actuate when 12v was applied, and deactuate when the power was removed. The passage was appropriately open and closed under the correct conditions.

I soldered a new connector to the harness, as the original connector showed some corrosion and contact damage. I replaced the vacuum hoses to and from the solenoid.

The ecu throws me 55 after reassembly, but the check engine light goes on after a short drive. It tends to go back off on deceleration coming off the freeway, but it is not entirely consistent.

I am assuming this is a California car, hence the egr temperature sensor may be there (I can't begin to see in the area of the egr valve.)

So what do you people think?

Does the temp sensor involve itself in the ecu circuits, possibly causing my code 32's ? (I have been told it does not, but I don't know).

I am tempted to install a new solenoid because of the weak actuation when 12v is applied, but I hate to start throwing money at expensive parts to eliminate possibilities just yet.

I am a little nervous to test the harness running to the ecu, but I guess that is a possibility. The problem is of course the intermittent nature of the check engine light triggering.

Please post any experience you might have along these lines.

Thanks in advance.
