I just got done with a an to tt swap. I'm having some idle issues where my car is idle like crazy and sometimes don't want to go past 3k rpm. I know that this could be a MAF related issue. However, I just noticed that I don't have my speed sensor connected ( I don't think I have the plug).

Could a bad/unplugged speed sensor cause idle issues? What issues can a bad speed sensor throw at me?

Also, I have the TT speed sensor on my NA to TT swap. Can I run it and would it work with my NA speedo? I know that if i want a better rating I need the NA speed sensor but I was looking on this list. below and it shows that it is only the gear that is different. So, can i use the TT speed sensor with the NA gear?

Thank you for your help

As far as I know (not a z32 expert) the only real difference in that trans is the bellhousing. The NA and TT had different final drives, so that's probably the difference. There's probably a few different ways that the speed sensor can go in, so pay attention to how it's lined up as the gears will be different diameters so the NA gear can't use the TT clocking and vice versa.

Hope that helps

Was the car an Auto previously? Who did the swap? what parts are new and what parts are used? the idle issue could be affected by CAS, TPS, MAF, IACV, or a vacuum leak just to name a few. The only real physical difference in the transmissions is the bell housing. the na and tt speed sensors can be physically interchanged and as mentioned above the final drive is different so the corresponding speed sensor gear is needed for correct reading. this however should not affect your idle.
