I am setting up a single turbo and am wondering about timing. all i have right now for management is an AFC and wideband. I havent installed the turbo yet, still researching. I have heard that my timing should be fine up until i hit the 6lb mark. i have looked into the aem fic a little, not sure if it is the right way to go, which is what brings me here. It is a NA car to start with.

Timing should be set based on logs, I couldn't really tell you exact because I haven't done the research but I would say you would have to be retarding it to ensure you were pre-detonating, your biggest problem with this setup will most likely not be timing but actually the wrist pins, on the NA they are super thin and tend to be the first thing to go under these conditions. Also I'd recommend if you are wanting to go this route, sell the AFC and get a Nistune as the AFC will not be able to make up enough fuel map expansion on top of the NA ECU for the car to run correctly.

thanks for the info on the nistune. do you know how much that runs? also with the wrist pins, how much can they hold, what are they rated at?

i dont know how much they can hold but id say if you get 300hp and detonate bad enough I could see one breaking, they are just so thin. on top of that the NA heads dont flow as well as the TT basically if you turbo an NA you are limiting yourself to how much power you can make. if you want to do it as an excersise by all means do it but I think its not worthwhile. And Nistune runs around $350 USD

A guy on here (username is txQ45) is a Nistune dealer. Shoot him a PM. He's a good guy. His name is Glenn.
