I meant "if he has money to burn", not that spending it on suspension would be a waste. Car's dont' have a very good ROE.

I personally like the power of the NA after a few mods.

Intake, headers and exhaust, pulley, chip and a few minor goodies to squeeze out extra power.

Think about cutting weight at this time and start kicking on nice higher end suspension like SPL or Powertrix stuff. Enjoy the car.

But I do like the simplicity of the NA, moderately good power and fairly reliable. I am strongly considering building a nice NA block. Forged oversized pistons, rods, oversized valves and cams, maybe a thicker head gasket, ARP head bolts, custom headers, port everything, do a little swain coating here and there, simplify a lot of stuff (EGR kill, AIV kill, PCV kill, etc). Try to squeeze out some power. Throw some water injection on it, a TT fuel pump, 370cc injectors, custom tune a map to it.

Hmmmm. Maybe later this year I will start reaching for that. 400hp+ would be a nice goal to try to attain.

Tempting.

But getting back on track, I'd stick with the NA if it's a DD. Otherwise there is always the TT swap.

Seek out a good balance of power/performance out of the vehicle. If you go for balls deep/balls out power it's fun but get's expensive and...at times frustrating.

i like that idea, i think im going to keep it NA and if i get another 300ZX 2+2 then ill do the twin turbo swap to that one. hey how much power would i be able to get out of the NA motor and still have a good daily driver?

i don't see the problem in a tt daily driver. if there are tt's out there that are not reliable. they are abused neglected and moded beyond the componets on the vehicle are designed to. running more than stoch boost on stoch turbos will cut your life. get bigger stronger turbos and run higher boost.keep things in perspective. building an na won't necessarily keep it reliable.remeber these cars are old. they will cost you funds to keep. you can have the stoch turbos last 200,000 miles. good oil changed frequently. turbo timers. good gas. not skipping out on tuneups and sparkplugs ...etc..

hey epic

this is from a previous thread :

i sent a cast of my ported cylender heads to ross pistions and they made me a set of forged 12:1 pistons for 800$ and had a full port and jwt race cams with a 50 shot i made 350 to the wheels i warn you though with those compression ratios with nitrous its easy to burn **** but it can be done i have jwt pop chargers and a home made dual 2'' 1/2 stainless exasut it can be done just turbos are easyer im now running a turbo set up with 675hp i would consider selling my old set up its allready out of the car if you make a offer

and he is willling to sell it

has anyone ever considered doing a custom itb setup on an NA? I know the cost versus power would hinder most from doing it, but I would think a full blown NA setup would be pretty sweet, not to mention the sound. I love listening to NSX's with itbs.

i dont think that the twin turbos not reliable, any engine is reliable as long as you maintain it properly. but i dont have the money or time to make my Z a twin turbo at the moment so im probably going to do the swap in a year or two when i have enough money. but for the moment im trying to build up my NA. and itbs does sound kinda interesting but i dont know how that would work and how badly that would kill gas milage. and does anyone know where i can get aftermarket cams, cam gears, and pulleys for the car?

Within this thread I've seen you flip flop several times...If it's more power that you want then do the swap. But know that it's going to cost you...I went through the same process as you are doing ultimately doing a rear turbo mount however nothing will ever beat a tt. I though am not prepared to invest so much where you could get a real tt for about the same price

I wouldn't say that I am broke, but I am far from where I want to be. I am just careful about my expenses honestly.

Actually looking to get into a new job market.... I miss doing sales. But San Antonio is a very bare job market.

Very clean and unassuming. I bet that thing would eat your lunch.

I always like the look of killing both the front cam gear cover and rear covers. I always wanted to do that but was scared that I might need the timing marks on the rear timing covers for something.

Realistically how hard do you think it would be to duplicate that intake. You will obviously need some velocity stacks attached to an individual TB. Plumb up a throttle linkage/cable X 6. I was thinking of taking a stock plenum and hacking one up all the way to the center to be able to weld in a flange to mate TB to. There is probably some good amounts of R+D throughout the process.

What would you do for the brake booster vacuum lines? Hmmm....now you've done it.

Yup, remember them from the red TT track car. Actually had met some of the guys from Escort at the Z convention in Long Beach California. Really nice guys. Those guys were on a whole other level of tuning the Z32.

That is ITB setup, just has carbon fiber plenums... Possibly turbo..

hmm this thread is interesting.. im debating wiether I want a drop top Z32 or TT .. I want the drop top cuz its straight sexy and the NA might be less maintenance.. but id eventually want the TT.. damm choices..

"Good. Gooood. Let the Darkside into your heart.""Muahhahahhhaahahhaahhaha"

And so it begins.

Yup, TT's are so great to have. I personally have both and love the TT but it does get expensive some times. Did all the work on my TT engine and still ended up spending around $6K-$8K. Which is a steal in comparison to how I've seen other spend.

I think that the ITB's are great -- do they sell them at the escort site -- can't read japaneese -- i would pay big bucks for a set -- love my NA

Same here.

Just to add fuel to the idea of changing up the intake design.

altavista babelfish will translate the site for you, but from what i saw they don't sell the itb's but they do sell a fully built motor, maybe it is an unlisted option.

yeah im definatly staying NA i like the ITB idea what would i need to do to put ITBs on my car and about how much would it cost? and would that kill my gas milage or improve it? i think im going to try to make mine like the itbs with the carbon fiber if i can get the money for it.
