What's a normal mpg figure for an NA?

I'm pretty sure I'm getting something like 16 mpg with suburban driving and some highway, never floored it.

Last time I checked, ecu gave code 55. I didn't run the O2 diagnostic, but it has 2 new Bosch O2 sensors that have only been on for ~400 miles. The fuel filter, fuel lines, injectors (stock, new style w/ adapter kit), air filter, spark plugs, coolant temp sensor, knock sensor (and harness), and fuel temp sensor are all brand new. MAF was cleaned twice when I had it out with MAF cleaner, so were the throttle bodies and IACV. PVC valves and hoses are all brand new. AIV is intact, but EGR is deleted. It idles smooth right around 750-800.

When I went to get inspected for emissions in NJ, I failed. Turns out I had a leaky fuel injector o-ring, bad CTS and fuel temp sensor. When I took it back, I still failed, but it did alot better than the first time. I eventually passed using the vacuum line trick, but it doesn't explain why I'm still running a little rich. The only fuel system components that aren't new are the fuel pump, FPR, and fuel dampener (and ecu chip).

One other thing I'm just thinking of is that when I put the new spark plugs in, I don't think I ever gaped them. Would that affect gas mileage that much?

I tend to average around 20-22mpg, mainly 20 though. About half my driving is on the freeway and the other half is back roads. If I drive down to the bay area and have the cruise control set high I can squeeze 25. Ironically enough my ECU gave me a 53 a few months back (right side O2) but the O2 sensor test showed it was functioning properly.

I dont think gapping the spark plugs would make any difference

I'd point to the ECU chip, but your MPG isnt too far off. For mostly suburban driving thats probably about right, somewhere in the neck of 16-18 around town is what they were rated for IIRC. They dont get the best mileage, but I cant complain, my 64 Malibu gets 7mpg!

Yeah I knew they didn't get great mileage, but 20 mpg would be nice lol

So I checked my old receipts from RockAuto, etc. from when I was buying parts last summer. I was convinced I had bought 2 new Bosch O2 sensors, but it turns out I must have bought some random brand named APWI? Go figure why I now have codes 33 and 53

Yeah my mileage is fairly similar to this. I have about a 10 minute drive from home to work & 9/10 times I hit E every Monday; unless I've been gunning it, which I rarely do. & I also drive to get coffee every morning and drive to class 2 times a week before work.
I daily drive A 04' Honda CR-V & that gets me from Monday-Saturday (Sometimes Sunday if im lucky).. So my Z gets about 1-2 more days out of the week over ye ol' Honda :bigthumb:

Every monday I could deal with! I'm putting $20 in like every 2 days, sometimes 3 days (and gas near me is $3.65/gal)

Haha Yeah I was doing that for a little, But once I put a full tank in a drove it for a week straight, I figured i'd be better off not stopping to get gas every 48hrs lol. & seems like you got it good over there eh? I bounce around 3.90-3.98 a gallon (93 of course) here in Northern VA.

What are your mods looking like on your NA? Including interior for weight purposes.

Yeah regular is about $3.35 at the moment and premium (91/93 depending on the station) is around $3.65-3.70ish.

My interior is all intact, no weight reduction or anything. Other mods are just a stainless catback, headers, cone filter, magnaflow cats, new style stock injectors and TT heads.

You guys get pretty good gas prices.

But yeah, just was wondering; I just added my sub in my trunk, & know i probable knocked of maybe 3 miles off my mileage from the added weight. But its def worth it haha

And that's why I'm glad I left CA. Prices are usually even more expensive in Lemoore.

Gas is 3.45 here.

Oh, crap. Reading comprehension fail. Nah, it's 3.70ish for 93. 4.00 for Ethanol free 94 at one station a few miles away though. I almost think it's worth it.

Oh ok that's better haha that's about what it is in NJ too. If you were getting 91 for 3.45 I was gonna request a 55 gallon drum or two
