I was wondering if it was safe to use a lightweight na flywheel and performance clutch on a tt engine. I know the na flywheel is smaller so I thought maybe it would let the engine rev faster then a same weight tt flywheel.

No, and the short answer is because the starter will not engage properly.

Only way it would work is if you have an NA bell housing, but there is no point. You may save a pound at the most. Might as well get a lightweight flywheel.

so if I have a na starter and na bellhousing it'll work? and I'm talking about both flywheels being lightweight. Since I've found a na flywheel thats 12.3 pounds with a stage 2 clutch for $260. figured I could get a tad better gas mileage and performance with a flywheel that has less area to spin.

Basically what you want to do is match the N/A trans, flywheel and clutch.

The biggest issue you will have is the clutch holding the power of the TT engine. Stage 2 may not be enough, you may have to go to stage 4+, and that i still going to be a big maybe.

Clutch and LWFW for $260? good luck with that.
