Hey everyone--

I just wanted to dispel what I think is BS... a buddy of mine told me that he was planning to put a low-shot N2O on his S13 KA, like 30-50 shot... I say, so? Big deal... He says that he's going to run CO2 SIMULTANEOUSLY to increase airflow.

All this on stock internals, fuel pump and injectors. Isn't this total BS? I mean, stock engine, AEM intake, Pacesetter(crap) headers stock cat-back... I told him he would wreck his engine but he's pretty set on it.

What do you all think? I'm all about exploring different options, but this is insane. But since he's already halfway there (parts on order... gah...) what else should he upgrade? ECU, fuel pump, injectors are what I am pushing for...

Thanks for the help, everyone.

C02 huh might hafta try that one haha. But people run 100 shot or more on that setup. Just ask Aries. Its all bout tuning.

How the f**k would CO2 increase airflow? CO2 is a byproduct of combustion and this tool wants to put it back into the engine?

Tell him to do 100 shot of NOS, CO2 injection, also tell him to add a bottle of whiskey into his gas tank for alcohol injection.

Interesting, let him run the CO2 and tell us what happens. I love experiments, especially ones that end in disaster.

From my admittedly limited understanding, CO2 systems use liquid carbon dioxide lines to cool intake temperatures. Colder air = denser air = more air = bigger bang. Most of the systems I've seen are bolt on options for turbo cars with intercoolers.

Yeah, don't think he's injecting CO2 gas into the engine.

Aquamist and or CO2 chillers will work on intercoolers.

Ebay resistors (5 cents) will do the same thing without CO2.

On a N/A car is a waste of time, just do the 100 shot of NOS. Vroom vroom vroom...kaboom.

i've heard of spraying it into an intake track and the spraying action itself is supposed to promote airflow - i guess u could use any gas. kinda like when those nitrous air filters say they also "promote airflow" or whatever - it's prolly total BS - tell him to skip the CO2 and run a 75 shot.

You don't want to be spraying anything into the intake tract that does not contain oxygen.

if your spraying an intercooler with CO2, then it will have some benifits.

spraying CO2 into your intake is just stupid, because your displacing the oxygen needed to burn the fuel with an inert substance.

that logic is ***-backwards. you dont spray a fire-extinguisher on something you want to burn brighter.

but hes replacing it with no2 check with wdracing on the ka engine forums...he does stuff like this but with alchohol and water injection....seems like the same principle, but i dunno if it will work as well as alchoho or water injection....theres a big thread in the kat forum about it for anyone interested

wow. You are all clueless as to C02's uses.I know that sounds harsh, But I am just very supprised.

In turbo applications CO2 can be sprayed onto the IC via an intercooler ring. BUT there are several other cooling options that do not involve any kind of spraying. You can get CO2 Fuel blocks that chills (and condense your fuel). and there is a CO2 Intake "pipe". a sort of thing that looks like a MAF. Colder denser intake air + colder denser fuel = safe HP. Its hard to detonate ice cold air/fuel.

That being said... your buddy is still going to grenade his motor.

He should spray the co2 on his N2o bottle.
