My friend has a zex kit he is going to let me use so I can see what it would be like to have nitrous on my motor. I was going to try a 65 shot, is there anything else I would need to safely run a 65 shot on my motor? Im only planning on spraying it a couple of times just to see how it reacts, any predictions or opinions? Who else here has ran n20 on their sr20?

From what I've read and been told, the ZEX kit is a dry kit, and dry kits are more prone to detonation due to the fact that cylinder one gets more nitrous than cylinder 4, yet all the cylinders get the same amount of fuel, leaving a chance for a lean situation to occur.

The ZEX kit just raises the pressure to the fuel pressure regulator to get the Injectors spray more fuel. If you're running a boost controller, then I assume you have the boost turned up, which means your injectors are probably close to maxing out already. If they are, then raising the pressure to the FPR isn't going to help you, and you'll end up with nitrous and no fuel to back it up.

In a wet nitrous setup, such as the NX kit, the nitrous AND fuel are sprayed by the fogger, and the injector setup is left alone. The benefit to this is that if your injectors are maxed, you are still able to get the fuel you need because it is taken from the fuel feed line independantly of the injectors. The only thing this setup relies on is you to have a good fuel pump.

There really isn't a totally temporary setup though, because either way you will need to make a hole in your piping close to the throttle body, and should you decide that nitrous isnt working for you or causing a problem, you now have a hole to deal with.

Well we finished putting it on and I tried it out tonight. It made a difference that I could definetly feel, it's a 65 shot and the bottle is almost empty but I was impressed with the difference it made. It pulls alot stronger through every gear when its spraying. Off the line all it does is spin now, Im going to need the lsd put on and some drag radials before I can really test launching with the nitrous. This is the first time Ive every used nitrous on any car, so overall impression is

I was thinking about putting a 20 shot on mine just to cool the air down. 65 shot is pretty crazy for a stock SR. I'd throw it on a dyno with a wideband with that no2 before you burn it up. I don't think your setup can really support a 65 shot.

My car dynoed at 235whp at 12psi w/o nitrous. The car is doing fine so far, Ive sprayed it maybe 6 or 7 times since Ive had the kit with no bad effects. I dont plan on keeping the zex kit I just wanted to see how the motor would react to the nitrous, so far so good

bad juju. Nitrous is fine if you take the precautions and use a good wet system or other fuel control.
