Hello,I'm about to change the oil and water pumps, belts etc. on my RB25 before doning a swap into a S14.

I'm hesitating between the regular and N1 versions of the oil and water pump. Which ones should I choose?

I read the N1 pump may need a special collar to fit the RB25 properly? Does it come with the pump? Is that true? How about the water pump? Will there be no other issues?

The car will be a dailydrive with ocassional trackday use.

the collar you are referring to is the crank collar. In my opinion if your going to put the oil pump on than you need to go the extra distance and get the collar properly installed. Collar doesn't come with the pump, you have to buy that seperate for around 100$.

So what can happen if I don't put the collar? If it is necessary why doesn't it come with the pump?

the crank collar isn't necessary...but, if your going thru the trouble to change the oil pump then might as well do the crank collar as well....since its right there.

but the problem is, and be aware... in order to install the crank collar you must remove the crank.

It all depends on how deep you want to go. If it's general maintance work then collaring your crank might not be exactly what you are looking for. But prepping your motor for some power or rebuilding it, its a wise idea to attack this mod.

just a thought

Well, it's general maintenance before swapping the engine. Actua;;y I'm also considering using te standard Rb oil and water pump. Maybe they will be strong enough to cope with everydays use...?

I think the stock RB25 water pump is supposed to be a really good design, and better for a daily driver/weekend warrior than the N1 water pump. I've also heard of a couple people having problems with N1 oil pumps and basically say, if your going to spend the money on an N1, go with a Tomei of JUN pump.

Polski?

So the oil pump is driven by the crank, which has fine size for regular pump, but is too small for the N1 pump... isn't it strange that nissan does parts like this??

P.S: Tak jestem z Polski Pozdrawiam!
