n00b questions on gauges: sr20det redtop into '95 240sx s14 zenki

New topic because I need to start from the beginning... it's not that I didn't bother searching :P

So, I bought a '95 240sx with a sr20det already swapped in. My speedometer, odometer, and temperature gauge don't work. I read something in another thread about having a sr20 or a ka24 speed sensor, but I don't know if that part was swapped since I'm not the one who did it. How can I tell which one is installed? And how to identify the proper wires and connections, figure out what's missing, etc? Sorry I'm a total n00b with car electronics... but I'm a fast and willing learner, it's just that I've never done it.

Go download the FSM and search these forums, and other 240 forums.

You will definitely find the answer you're looking for.

You can never do too much research.

for the speedometer you have to buy a s14 (manual) speed sensor. the coolant temp sensor is near the TB trace those wires back to the ecu. as for the odometer I have no clue
