http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ricer

Ricer may refer to:

Rice burner, a pejorative used initially to describe Asian-made — specifically Japanese-made — motorcycles and automobiles. Many variations have also been used, such as rice rocket for Japanese sport bikes. More contemporary use of the term rice burner, along with the prefix rice, has taken on an alternate pejorative meaning for an automobile that has been modified to give impression of high performance, but does not necessarily have any high-performance capabilities.

http://www.urbandictionary.com...Ricer Ricer: from the latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt)

A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):

- Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder - Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747 - Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool- Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself - Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire- Clear tail lights and corner signals- A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)- Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therfore not always considered rice. It really depends on the severity of the case.

The "ricer" attempts to make their car "performance" by adding the modifications listed above. These ricers are not confined to any one ethnic group or color, however different ethnic groups are known for certain styles.

Honda Civics with big spoilers and 4" exhaust tips are considered to be ricers.

You must be talking about the leaf-blower on wheels that passes me a couple of times a week!

I like to refer to these exhausts as "grapefruit shooters," because that's about all they're good for. Wedge one in, start up the car and watch it fly!

That part is not true. It would be rims that look like they are expensive but often be some brand that no one has ever heard of.

I don't care if I saw a car with all of the above, if it had some Work rims on it I would say, "Man that car is so RICE besides those rimes...DAMMMNNN!"

Also one of my friends had a 4" tip exhaust but it was followed by 3" piping all the way to the downpipe. Of corse he had a 240sx with an sr20 in it.

Don't worry, for someone to get upset enough to shoot you, they would have to first understand what you write...

Hey! I resemble that remark! No GT-R stickers, but I did put vinyl graphics and exhaust systems on both of my Kias.

Flowmaster 40 series exhaust + Delta 2.7L V6 = painful at cruising speeds.

respect to victorious, you do know something though about cars unlike some people that decided added stickers would add +50HP to their cars!

I put a cherry bomb on my 99 escort, just so that when i pull up to lights i could mess with the ricers. i would rev my engine to get them interested and then creep away from the light when it turned green.

I did that to ricers when I had my Spectra, I'd cruise down Everett Mall Way on my way home from work. Invariably, they'd pull up and rev at me. I'd just look back and grin, and when the light changed... do nothing. They'd peel out. Several times, the other guy got pulled over and ticketed. Apparently they were not smart enough to figure out that trying to street race on the street where Everett Police has a precinct might not be a good idea.

Now... when my wife was driving my riced out Optima when her truck was in the shop (see also: October Curse), people would always rev at her and try to race her. That never happened when *I* was driving... it was weird.

I discreetly installed a V6 badge from an old Passat where the "SL" badge should be on my hatch... the lettering matches the Versa lettering perfectly. I've gotten several comments on it too, Does that make me rice?

Even i can answer that...YES!

If u dont have a V6 in ur car, why did u put a badge on?

I know what my car has, and thats why i have my cars brands on my car..Continental stickers and stuff.

Does it make me ricer just because i put on graphics? I mean, its not cause i want to look like i can race, i just think they look really cool, and i am an artsy person.

Yeah lol. They are pretty decent tires...all season performance stock. I dont know any other car in its class that has those tires standard.

I don't really agree with you. They are not real great in the rain but as an all season general purpose tire they are ok. They have very good winter performance in snow conditions. Of course there is a trade-off. Wet performance is sacrificed a bit. You could go with a tire that has better wet/dry performance but you would be sacrificing winter performance. No all season is perfect. However once these are ready for replacement I will go with a better quality summer tire and put snows on in the winter if necessary.

True, no all-season is perfect... but it's not always a trade-off of better performance in one area sacrificing performance in another. The best OE tire I've ever had was better both in the dry and the wet than the Continentals, and about the same in the winter. Granted, it was a more expensive tire, so the trade was not performance for performance... it was performance for price.

If you had me rate the OE/OE replacement radials I have ever owned and rate them on their OVERALL performance, they would be (from best to worst):

1) Michelin Energy MXV+2) Ohtsu Zexius 512/Falken Ziex ZE5123) Yokohama Avid H44) Bridgestone Potenze RE0925) Firestone FR680 (tie)5) Toyo Proxes 800 Ultra (tie)7) Continental ContiSport (the V's tires)8) Hankook (forget the name, OE on Kia Spectra)

This list ignores special-purpose tires (snow tires, summer tires, race tires) and the light-truck tires for my wife's SUV.
