N. Texas drifters

What's up everyone, I just got my s14 a couple of weeks ago, and I'm interested in pretty much all aspects of driving. I'd like to try drifting also, but recently got politely kicked out of Pennington field, a giant parking lot that is home to most of SCCA autox events in the area. (cops said it was private, ok to learn to drive, but drifting's a no-no)

anyways, some people offered ideas, and a couple were to rent a parking lot, or check with a track and rent the skidpad or something. I was wondering if anyone's interested in doing something like this, like once or twice a month or something. I don't really want to learn on the street, and it would be a good chance to hang out and meet/discuss driving techiques, mods and ideas, (and general hooliganism in a semi-controlled area, hehe) Not really looking to start a drift club or team, etc, just wanna drive and hang out/meet people.

here's what's going on off the top of my head:June 22- SCCA autox at texas motor speedwaySept. 1- Driver's edge, Motorsport ranch (this place is the sh*t!)

damn, that's all I can think of, but there's at least 2 autox a month, scca and er, and if you guys are interested I can post some more events, and not sure, but somene mentioned a dallas nissan group that hangs out sometimes (DNE?) Just trying to get us together, no reason for Cali and Conn. to have all the fun!:ylsuper

Ok, here's some more dates:

July: 6 Equipe Rapide autox, Pennington field (HEB area) 12 Lone star BMW autox at Mineral Wells 20 SCCA autox, Pennington field

Aug: 2 HIN, Dallas Market Mall 3 ER autox, Pennington field 8/9 NHRA sport compact nationals, Texas motorplex 17 SCCA autox, pennington field 23 Lone star BMW autox, Mineral wells 30/31 Nopi nationals, Houston Raceway park 31 ER autox, Pennington fieldseptember 1, Driver's edge, Motorsport Ranch (even the driveway kicks ***!)

Not sure how to go about renting parking lots, or which ones are good for everyone, but if anyone wants to meet up sometime to talk it over and see what's good for everyone, I'm down. I'm also gonna make every autox I can, barring my car breaking (I'm still used to having a dsm, it'll break if you look at it hard enough...)

im definitely up for some meets or somethin. i was gonna try and make some of the DNE meets, but it seems like all of those are Maximas...and those arent too interesting to me. let me know if you get somethin set up with some people. btw, im in the Plano area.

I think the dne guys have some 240 members. I'd like to hang out with them at least once to meet some people. you never know where you can find a hookup or can hook someone else up. I think they have one this coming weekend, but I'm not sure. would you be down to go to texas motor speedway this weekend? it's $25 to drive. (autox)

really? I was planning to go to the autox at tms, but I would like to check it out. thing is, I'd like to drive, and I'm not ready for a big event. I'm really concentrating on my grip driving right now, but do you have any more info on that event or the organization? Much appreciated!

Nocomedown, do you think you would be interested in the texas motor speedway autox event? I've been a couple of times, and it's big enough to where I would do that instead of going all the way down to houston. pennington field is cool, but it's smaller than tms, and if it was there this weekend, I would have said yes immediately to Houston. But lemme know if you want to go, or at least watch or something, and we could meet up somewhere.

so is else down for this weekend's autox at Texas motor speedway? It would be a good time to meet up and hang out, say wassup and all, even if you don't drive. If you do want to drive, it's $25 and registration is around 7:30, I think. Lemme know, maybe we can meet up and go out there together. I only live about 15 or so min. away. (from tms)

Im probably goin. You'll see me drivin a '95 black golf ball that looks alot like a 240. Custom dimple hood and body package. The insurance company says it's totalled but i think it just makes my car go faster.......dimples in golf ball= fly farther and faster....same effect..lol.

Texas motor speedway autox:Sunday, June 22. registration 7:30-9 (am times)tech inspection 'till 930-945driver's meeting 1000

I'm planning to get there around 8am. lemme know if anyone feels lost, check the tms website for directions, I'm not that good at giving them. but if anyone wants to meet up around 7:30 let me know, I can get us out there.

yeah, you'll have to sign a release form, but it's free and actually probably won't start 'till about 11, sometimes they go slow.

No 240 yet? better keep practicing your No shadow kick! (hehe, I got like 8 old school jet li flix)

AJ-SPEC do you know if the autox organization there trips about drifting?? because the one up here in west texas trips and gets pissed every time we do it, i'll go if i can make it

damn, I'm not sure, I don't think they'd like it too much, especially if their picking cones up all the time. But I did see a firebird drift an entire run before, and no one said ****. actually, no one could even say **** for a minute, we were shocked- he never hit a cone!

I think my bro is comin too. He's got a pretty pimp 2001 BMW 328i with the M Sport package. It's pretty fast for stock. It stomps the pants of my golf ball but its still not a 240

besides, he paid 23 grand for his car, i paid 2 grand for my '95 240...HA!

I'll be there, I'm in a concord gray s14. I have a helmet that I'm using, but they have loaner helmets there you can use. good luck trying to borrow someones, it's gonna be hot and people probably aren't gonna want someone elses sweaty dome all up in their helmet! lol there's actually supposed to be a few guys coming out, I'll be there with a superman blue 02 si, we'll have to park together so we can get some pics!

Well i didn't make it out there sunday. Friday night i thought it might be a good idea to head up to witchita falls to see some friends. About a mile from where i was supose to exit there was something VERY SHARP in the road and it skewered my BRAND NEW rear driver side tire. There's a whole in it the size of my fist......talk about pissed! I didn't have a spare....futher mucker! So i had to wait for my friends to find a five lug spare and bring it to me. I would have went out sunday but i really wanted to race and that's kinda hard to do with 3 17' wheels and 1 donut!....GRRRRR Lemme know when the next get together is <<<Tom>>> [email protected]
