You want to use NGK Plugs...

The options for the NA are-Hot PFR5B-11-Standard PFR6B-11-Cold PFR7B-11

And gap should be 0.44"

I am considering changing the plugs on my '91 na but don't have a clue what the difference b/w the hot, cold, and standard are. Would you suggest a certain one?

if you drive the car daily on the street and don't really have intentions of racing than standard plugs will do you fine

colder plugs perform better when the engine is under really high load

and i would stay away from hot plugs

I have hot plugs! The guy at the auto parts store said they were the best plugs for the car. I believed him since i was new to the car and only knew that they had to NGK. Looks like i will have to look around to see if anyone carries cold plugs, I just checked Advamced auto and all they carry is hot plugs.Next pay check will go to new plugs.

Check out sparkplugs.com

They are a sponsor of NICO and they carry all ranges of NGK plugs. Plus they'll hook you up

I am about to change my spark plugs and am probably going with the NGK IX iridium (BKR6EIX-11). On sparkplugs.com they only suggest the NGK hot plugs(5) for the 300 even though the manual says you can use 5,6, or 7. I want to get the 6(standard). Should that be fine? I use my '91 na for daily driving.

THREAD RESURRECTION!!! :woot:

For a N/A DD ('92) with slight mods, which would be better between these two and why?

NGK PFR6B-11
NGK PFR6G-11

What are the differences other than length? Both are platinum, and advise against gapping.. as does the disclaimer under the hood of the Z

Hello all,
I have a 92 NA 300zx. I'm doing some maintenance on it now, and I'm wondering which spark plugs to get. The book calls for double platinum if I remember correctly. The guy at Advance Auto recommended Iridium plugs... Is this a good idea? Or should I stay with Platinum? This is my second vehicle and I'd like to get the most power out of as I can. Also, should I spend the $385 on all new coil packs or just replace the plugs and boots? Thank you in advance!

NEWS FLASH! Iridium is a member of the platinum family. It's primary use is in the manufacturing of spark-plugs. If I remember correctly, they only mine about 6,000 tons a year worldwide. Iridium = Platinum in terms of conductivity. It just has properties that better enables forming of the metal.
